Rated 3 out of 5 by from Kept us cool, but the follow through doesn't exist We used the through the summer in our open air shop and it really help to knock down the temperature. When we filled up the water for the first time though it leaked water in three different places. I sent in a support request on your website and never received any communication from your company. I also sent in a review stating the same, which offered a free hat. I received the hat but now follow through regarding that negative review.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great and not so great Purchase 2 Cyclone 160 coolers from Home Depot. The first one works flawlessly and does what it's supposed to do in spades. The 2nd however arrived new in box with the water inlet jam nut broken and the pump not positioned correctly. It also had one of the brackets secured to the bottom of the pan with a fastener that hadn't been sealed properly so we still had problems with the resulting leak when we filled it manually. There is also an issue in the way the water tank is designed. Draining the tank completely is impossible due to it's compartmentalized design making the weekly cleaning more difficult than it needs to be. We have to use a wet/dry vac to remove the water in order to clean the compartments. This is poor design.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cooled my garage Bought this several months ago so I have had time to use and review. I live in phoenix so summer here is a good time to test. Cooled down my 1500 sf steel garage (insulated-14' walls) very well to the point where I was comfortable enough to work in there. I start it up in the morning before it had time to heat up. On the dry heat days it worked great to the point where the entire building is cooled down from one side to the other. On humid days it still cooled but the cooling effect was more localized. Again, it helps to start early so it doesn't have to fight to cool the space down.....still does well if you start later but is more efficient this way. For those who dont know, with evap coolers dont try to cool your space by keeping the unit inside and recycling the inside air like an a/ will only make it muggy inside. Building is 50' wide with 2 bay doors and a std entry door. I set up at the farthest bay door, with the door lowered down to the top of the unit, and open the entry door on the other end. This brings in air from outside, pressurizes the building with cooler air and pushes out the hot air thru the openings. I was surprised the pressure effect even cooled the air higher up towards the ceiling. Unit is not whisper quiet but much quieter than I expected. The cfm is adequate but seems it could use just a little more at times; however at the expense of more noise and electric usage. The only problem I have with the unit is the plastic hose nipple. This should have been brass. It is weak and I'm very careful not to snap it off when connecting my garden hose to it or wheeling it into position. It also leaks when disturbed so I have to periodically fuss with the hose to stop the drip. Water adjustment - If you turn on the pump before the fan it will spray water over the backside. It seems the pads aren't recessed enought and are on the same plane as the backside of the unit. I have played with the adjustment but here in phoenix I need full water flow so I keep the valve fully open. 2 things that help: 1.Push the cooling pads in as far as possible to keep them from touching the outside of the unit...this helps keep the dripping water from running down the outside. 2. When breaking in the pads use a garden hose to soak the pads first so they absorb the water faster. And I keep a towel handy. When buying be sure to open it up and clean it out before first usage (likely there will be some debris in there), and be sure the pump is mounted straight up and down and not cocked from shipping, otherwise no additional set up required...plug in and use. Also when the pads are out there is excellent access to the inside for maintenance. Wheels easily on my concrete floor. Happy with the purchase overall and made the garage useable in the hot summer months.

How long will the 40 gal tank last if continuously run?

Asked by: philb63
The length of time for a 40-gallon tank to last if run continuously depends on the current heat and humidity levels. If the Portacool portable evaporative cooler is not hooked up to a continuous supply of water, and the humidity level is high at the time of use, you will likely get approximately 2-3 hours of use. Does this unit need a continuous water source?

Asked by: dimp43
This unit has a hose connection and float inside so that it can have a continuous water source. However, it can also be manually filled and has a pump shut off so that if the water level gets too low the pump will shut off and a low level indicator light will come on.
