The Pirtle Nursery Brightwell Blueberry shrub #2 (1.5 gal.) produces an abundance of large, blue-black fruits with excellent flavor over a long season. As one of the rabbiteye varieties they are perfect for eating fresh, cooking or freezing. These small shrubs look lovely in landscapes, with leaves that turn bright red in fall. The Brightwell Blueberry requires organic, acid (sour) soil. Typically produces ripe fruit quickly, with ripe berries two months after you notice the flowers on branches. It features dainty clusters of pink bell-shaped flowers with shell pink overtones hanging below the branches in mid spring, which emerge from distinctive red flower buds.
