Hello. We're sorry to read about your disappointment with ColorStay by Scotts Brown Mulch and appreciate your feedback.

Fungal mold spores including mushroom-producing fungus are a natural part of soils; It just takes the right conditions for the spores to develop into a fungus or mold. In fact, fungus mold has been scientifically proven to improve the growth of plants by releasing nutrients from the organic material that growing media are typically. The fungus mold only becomes a problem if there is an overgrowth. Overgrowth occurs when the soil mulch is too wet. Keep in mind that mold and fungus on growing media or mulch will go away with sunlight and air circulation.

The mold and fungus that grow on soils and mulch will not harm plants and are safe for people and pets to be around, although, as always, we recommend you use gloves when handling soil that has not been used yet and allow it to dry out on some newspaper outside before using.

Our mulches are produced regionally, and for that reason, they may vary slightly in color and size. It is unusual for products to vary much at one plant location. In extremely rare instances, an individual may purchase products that were produced at two different plants; this can account for slight differences in color or composition of the mulches. The color variation will usually disappear as the product is exposed to rain and sun.

We want you to be confident in our products. For this reason, we offer a product guarantee. If for any reason you, the consumer, are not satisfied with the results after using this product, you are entitled to get your money back. Limitations apply. At your earliest convenience, please reach out to us at 888-270-3714 if we can further assist. Scotts
