With its Type 2 UL 1618 rating, this Imperial 32-in x 42-in Stove Board has an R-value of 1.5 that provides exceptional thermal and ember protection to insulate and shield floors and walls from intense heat, hot coals, ashes and soot produced by pellet and wood stoves. It is constructed with durable steel-covered Class A mineral board that is 1/2-in thick and features a black finish with an embossed pebbled surface for an attractive look and lasting performance. The non-combustible Type 2 stove board, classified as a Thermal Floor Protector, has a modular design that allows you to install multiple boards to suit different appliances and it can be used with electric heaters, kerosene, gas and other heating appliances. A stove board spacer kit is available for wall-mounting the board, reducing clearance between combustible materials and the appliance by as much as 67% to a minimum clearance of 12-in (kit sold separately). Before installing, refer to the stove manufacturer's manual, installation instructions, and local building codes for specific thermal resistance and clearance requirements.

- A: Hello, thank you for your question. Per the vendor, "I would not suggest this to be used outdoors in an environment where moisture is present. The core material is Micor which is similar to drywall. It also utilizes steel which would rust."a year agoHelpful?

I purchased 4 of these last autumn 2014...I was skeptical but took them to my home that was built in 1974. I have a vogelzang boxstove also purchased at tractor supply 10 years ago.We had trouble with the walls heating so hot you couldn't touch them and was scared of starting a house fire.After installing these boards, we have no heat on the walls at all, and the walls are cool to the touch....ABSOLUTELY AMAZING...Extremely safe now to burn fires in our stove and worry free...Thank you tractor supply

I bought this insulation board on-line and had it sent to the store. When I went to pick it up it was still in the box and the store clerk was acting extra nice and wanted to carry it out to my car. That was curious behavior as I'm certainly capable; it's not very big and weighs less than 10 lbs. Well when I got home (30 miles away) I discovered why the friendliness. The board was broken in two places as a result of rough handling. It item is still usable for my purpose and the return is not worth the hassle.

They gave it to us bent. Also after spending over 2,000 they only had the option to ship everything. To the store and we had to pay for delivery. That burns. Won’t do anything big with them again.

I was very displeased with this product. I had to order this item to the store. I picked it up and the box looked like it was run over and punctured by a fork lift. I got it home and opened it only to see that it was nearly broken in half. I returned it and did not even try ordering another one.
