The Imperial 6 in. x 24 in. Black Stove Pipe is used to connect your wood stove to entrance of the chimney. This black stove pipe features a 24 gauge pre-painted black steel construction and has a satin black finish. The male end of this high-quality stove pipe is crimped for easy assembly to round pipe or fittings of the same diameter. The crimped end should be oriented toward the stove to allow for condensation and creosote to flow down inside the pipe. Q: Can I use this pipe to vent my coal stove?

1 Answer
  • A: Hi, Here is the information we received from the vendor- "Any of our Black 6” or 8” (24ga) Black Pipe can be used with coal stoves. Our pipe will work as single wall pipe, however with certain types of coal, it may deteriorate much faster than with a wood burning application. I would always still defer to any local codes/ordinances prior to installation."

1 Answer
  • A: Hi KPNC, According to the vendor: Yes, our Imperial stove pipe pairs with the DuraPlus Thimble. Just a reminder, it's crucial that the thimble and the pipe or fitting share the same diameter.

Q: Approximately how high does pipe need to be from roof, above in the air in order for the heater to "draw" properly? And, Does it come in longer pieces?

1 Answer
  • A: The top of the flue opening should be at least 10 Ft (3.1 m) away from any roof surface as measured by a horizontal line drawn from the top of the chimney flue opening to where it would touch the roof surface. The top of the flue opening should be 3 Ft (0.92 m) above any roof surface.

Q: Can this be buried? So you dont think Im crazy, Im looking for a solution to provide an air duct into the bottom of a fire pit (and allow for water drainage out).

  • A: Any time steel pipe is buried, it will rust out in a short period of time. This pipe is no different. It is not intended for burial. If you are looking for a short term temporary fix for an event, almost anything will do. l would advise using something like a clay tile pipe for this. It would last a long time.

long lasting

I have used other brands and gauges of stove pipe before until i purchased imperial. This pipe lasts for several years and is defenitely worth the money. The only drawback is the paint will smoke a little bit if you get a hot spot but it will quit.

There are Better

The packaging deforms the pipe to the point the seam is near impossible to snap together. Then it must be massaged to make it round enough to fit together. Will never buy again unless store will assemble and true pipe to round before I Buy it. There are other stove pipes available of same quality without all the hassle.
