A single 50 lb bag is not enough to adequately cover 20,000 sq. ft. While the packaging claims 20,000 sq. ft. of coverage, the breakdown on the label shows the product is 50% seed coating and about 50% actual grass seed.
In reality, you are only getting 25 lbs of seed per bag, which results in an application rate of just 1.25 lbs of seed per 1,000 sq. ft.—far below the 5 lbs per 1,000 sq. ft. typically required for effective overseeding. Furthermore, at $99.99 a bag, you are paying nearly $4.00 per pound of seed once you subtract the inert weight of the coating.
