Rated 5 out of 5 by from "If you water it, it will grow" I used this grass without reading anything about it. I was very happy that I picked it. I used it mainly in an area that is fenced in for my dogs. I planted the seed on a 100ft by 8ft sloped area. To keep the dogs from tearing up the seeded area I bought several 50ft by 4ft straw mats [not expensive] down to keep the seed in place. Watering the seeds twice a day, the seeds grew 5 times faster under the mats than the seeds that were not covered. Seeds growing under the mats started coming up within 7 days and about 10 days with the uncovered seeds. You are supposed to be able to mow over the mats to cut the grass [mats dissolve over time] but I pulled them up. I have mowed the grass 2 times now and it looks great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Seed Available This is the best grass seed I've ever purchased, period. It grows where other "specialty" grass seed wouldn't and has covered my lawn with a beautiful sea of green crowding out most of the weeds. I've used it on about half an acre and it makes the other half look terrible so going to pick up another bag to even it out in the back yard. East Tennessee clay soil and this seed seems to love it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Started coming up too quick Wife has been hounding me to do something with the mud in our front yard between the chicken coop and the hog pen. I bought this seed because it was cheep hoping that it would take forever to grow. WRONG. within 8 to 10 days I had grass. It looks Beautiful but now I have to mow. I would not recommend using this product if you are as lazy as I am.

I see annual but then I see it says dies out in summer, what is preannual? South east mn. Would the DLF Gulf annual ryegrass or what other would work for seeding areas

Asked by: Timstoybox
Ryegrasses -- Both Annual & Perennial -- are planted throughout the US states. Perennial ryegrass seed for permanent lawns are planted from the upper south and Midwest to Northern & Western state areas. Annual ryegrass seed are planted in all areas and will generally die as summer approaches. Perennials are also used in deep southern state areas for winter overseeding where they perform similar to annual ryegrass -- dying and completely dead as summer temperatures arrive.

The difference in Annual Rye and Perenial Rye grass

Asked by: hankw651
Annual grows quickly and will be good for over-seeding applications where bare spots need to be filled in while perennial grasses are dormant. The annual will not come back the next year, whereas perennial will return in future growing seasons.
