Grizzly G4000 Lathe, great machine for the price

There's not a lot of reviews on the Internet regarding this specific model but the few that I did see pretty accurately describes the pros and cons and I preface my short review with the fact that I am a complete novice when it comes to machining equipment and I am a professional land surveyor by trade so take my short review with a healthy dose of salt. As everyone else has mentioned, you'll spend a fair amount of time cleaning and deburring many of the parts but once that was completed it operated quietly and seemed to have more than adequate power for its intended use. I intended to use this for a project where I have to turn some 5 inch HDPE plastic to make sanitary water well seals and it works fantastic for that but I am also in the process of making a small ship cannon and am using carbon steel and it IS work fantastic in the finishes are good as long as I'm using the correct cutting bit. So far, I'm quite pleased with the performance and considering the price the finish as well but I'm still on a very large learning curve and sometimes ignorance can be bliss.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

We appreciate your perspective and are glad to hear that the lathe is performing well for your projects. Cleaning and deburring are often part of the setup process, and it’s great to hear that once completed, it’s running smoothly and delivering good results. Your feedback on using it for both HDPE and carbon steel is valuable, and we're happy to know it’s meeting your expectations. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience, and we appreciate your support.

    Works great.

Works great. Glad I didn’t get one of the cheaper lathes on the market. Speed changed with belt and pulleys instead of a variable speed motor like most newer models. Added quick change tool post and some lights. I chose this lathe as it was the only one with available spare parts. I have big trust in Grizzly customer service. Would buy this model again. $100 shipping is a bargain

    A very nice benchtop lathe.

As a 46 year master machinist, I knew what I wanted. Based on reviews and company info, I ordered the Grizzly 9X19. After setting it up, lubricating it, and running some parts, I'm not disappointed. It's no Monarch EE, but for a benchtop lathe I'm happy with it.

    So far, so good

I've only done some light test cuts with it, but it seems to be a good, light-duty machine. Comes with all the accessories to get started (except tooling).
