The best valued 6 in. benchtop jointer on the market. The G0946 6 in. Benchtop Jointer features a spiral-type cutterhead for smoother finishes, quieter operation, and less maintenance compared with straight-knife cutterheads. The 12 high-speed steel (HSS) inserts sit square to the axis of the cutterhead, with the cutting edges perpendicular to the workpiece. HSS has been heat treated for hardness and wear resistance, which keeps a sharp edge longer than other carbon steels. The manual was written by our U.S.-based Technical Documentation Department and is packed with useful information. The complete and easy-to-read manual makes it easier to assemble and maintain your machine. The Customer Service and Technical Support Teams are also U.S.-based. Parts for this machine may be available online and shipped from the parts warehouse in Springfield, MO.

For additional information on this product, please see the Product Documents section for all downloadable user manuals, installation guides, brochures and warranty statements.

Disappointed

I’ve had mixed experience so far. Cons: Underpowered- the machine has struggled to make < 1/32 cuts with new cutters on 5.5” pressure treated wood. I imagine hardwoods would be worse. Fence design: the single adjustment point for the fence allows for flex in fence angle even when fully tightened. This is a big deal for jointing larger workpieces because the fence angle changes when pressing hard against it. Also it’s very difficult to align the fence parallel to the infeed/outfeed tables. Cutter durability: I’ve had to rotate the cutters already after fairly minimal use. Cleaning didn’t help. It was also disappointing to notice that the cutters only have 2 orientations, not 4. I’m also struck that there doesn’t seem to be redundancy in the cutter locations- if one cutter has an issue, then the whole process suffers. Pros: Cost: cheaper than many options. No real complaints about table adjustment, dust collection, assembly. The initial table calibration was a minor PITA because each adjustment needs to be tightened down before being able to check the result but it’s not supposed to be a frequent activity. In summary: I’m a rank amateur and thought this product would be a good way to satisfy my immediate project needs and serve until if and when I was ready to buy a larger and more expensive jointer. It has not really performed to expectations. I can get adequate results on wider pieces but it has been an iterative and difficult process so far.

No, I do not recommend this product.

We’re sorry to hear that the jointer has not met your expectations. A benchtop unit is designed for lighter‑duty applications. Regarding cutter durability and orientation, carbide inserts on this model are designed with two cutting edges, and wear can be influenced by material type, feed pressure, and moisture content—pressure‑treated lumber in particular can be more demanding on tooling. If you’d like to discuss setup tips, cutter options, or alternative machines that may better suit your projects, our technical support team would be happy to help. Thank you for taking the time to provide a detailed review.

Perfect jointer for my shop. Didn’t need or want to splurge on larger models as I am just a hobby woodworker. Does exactly why I need for a great price. 10/10 recommend.

Terrible fence decent otherwise

Poor quality fence. All it takes is a tap from the board to throw it out of square. I’m super disappointed with this. Decent otherwise but relatively useless without a decent fence.

No, I do not recommend this product.

We’re sorry to hear that the fence hasn’t met your expectations. It should hold square during normal use, so we would like the opportunity to make this right. Our Product Support team can help troubleshoot the issue, as there may be an adjustment needed to ensure the fence locks securely and maintains alignment. Your satisfaction is important to us, and we appreciate the opportunity to resolve this.
