excellen machine after i fixed the dust collection

I read the reviews about poor DC, thinking it was connected to the rear connection, I have a lot of Birdseye maple, and flattening 1 side of 3 8-10" wide boards clogged it up, the head would fling chips everywhere, I removed the outfeed table, decided to alter the DC, there is a flat area under the cutter head that tranitions to a ramp down to the removable rear exit duct , also a cast in support bar parallel to the cutter head, chip would fill over the bar, I mounted a metal divider in this area, 2 4" duct connectors ,elbows , duct, picture show it all, works fantastic, adjustment wheels have backlash in them , takes a little practice. have processed 1000 bf no issues, took an afternoon to complete the mod machine is smooth, heavy ,doesn't wander around

Yes, I recommend this product.

AWESOME MACHINE!!!

Shopped and shopped and reviewed several machines. Kept coming back to this one and so glad I did. Upgraded from a 6" knife jointer to this BEAST!!!. I love the solid construction and the weight of the machine helps tremendously when jointing a long heavy oak board. Cuts effortlessly and smoothly. Very Nice machine indeed. Would highly recommend this one to serious wood workers. Well Worth the money.

What a nice machine! Easy to un-crate and put together. Clean-up was a breeze with WD-40. A good metal sealant and a coat of wax on the non-painted surfaces and I was ready to joint some wood. The 5 HP motor acted like it was working on a 4" piece of poplar - not an 11-1/2" piece of kiln dried oak. I ran some very nice bird's eye maple without a single tear-out. My "old" 8" jspiral ointer sold the day I listed it. What a nice upgrade for me. I highly recommend the one I bought - made in China! A special thanks to the Grizzly technician's advice on which machine to purchase.

worth the wait

Think I waited a year for this to come off backorder! Glad I did! Didn't give it 5 stars for a couple reasons. One is I havent used it long enough yet to really review it properly and secondly you must have a high volume dust collection hooked up or shavings end up in your way on the tables. Dust collection was on my "list" anyway so I've pulled the trigger on a clear vue cyclone. The jointer fence has easy to use adjustments and the 5hp motor with the spiral head go through hardwoods easily. Nice machine!
