Sex: Unsexed

The Buff or Buff Orpington Duck was developed by the William Cook family who lived in the Orpington area of Kent, England in the early 1900s. It was developed as a multipurpose bird, with the ability to lay good quantities of eggs along with having the size and feather color to make a good roasting duck. Some even claim that the buff colored feathers are easier to pluck than the white Pekin feathers. Interestingly, they are the only poultry breed admitted in the American Standard of Perfection with their name as a color only. They remain a very beautiful and popular breed. The drakes and ducks are both buff in color with orange-yellow shanks and feet. However, the drake's bill is yellow while the duck's bill is brownish-orange. Buffs are nice calm ducks and also make great pets. Like most domestic ducks, the Buff is capable of flying very short distances, if at all.

Reviews

Hoover's Hatchery Buff Ducks, 10 Count Baby Ducklings is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 14.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from One Died Day 1 Shipping took multiple days, they were too small for shipping longer than overnight and one died the day they arrived. Others are doing well after getting food/water but live animals should really be same-day shipping or overnight at the worst.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Happy with ducklings, but should’ve arrived sooner Ducklings fortunately arrived ahead of schedule. The shipped Monday morning and I picked them up on Thursday morning at about 7:30am from the post office. The post office called at 7am. Sadly, one duckling did pass the night that i picked them up. I tried to nurse it a little, but I think they arrived a day too late for that duckling. All nine others are doing great and are happy, active ducklings. They are a week and a half old now and twice the size they were when they arrived! My only complaint is that they should’ve arrived a little sooner.

Buff ducks are standard size ducks so are not true call ducks. Please watch for availability of call ducks in 2020
