Q: Whats the dimension from the hitch to the ground when the unit is sitting level?

1 Answer
  • A: The hitch height varies and will work on tractors that a have hitch height between 8-10 inches which is the average for most small tractors. If your hitch is different you made need to add spacers to raise or lower it.

Q: Transport handle not locking into notch

1 Answer
  • A: You need to make sure you have loosened the end plate on the right side of you unit and push the tray over so to the other side so you see no space. If that is done and the handle is still not locking you need to go back to the manual and make sure you have put the knives and the spacers in the correct places on the shaft. They must be in the correct position in order for the handle to stay in place.

Q: I am wondering if I could use this to make holes like a seed drill to allow for overseeding of a lawn or small field?

1 Answer
  • A: Hey rvman02, That's a great question. The information I can access is for using this item as a tow behind aerator, so I couldnt make the claim that I could be seeding. I would suggest giving the manufacturer a quick call or visit their website: https://www.agri-fab.com/Utilities/Support.aspx or (800) 448-9282 Toll-free

Agri-Fab Tow-Behind 40 in. Plug Aerator

This product is awesome! The weight tray has a spec of 150 lbs. I put 140 lbs on it and it works great. The only thing is ground condition. Ride on or push core aerators can get through packed ground that is dry and this has trouble at times doing that. The best conditions are right after its' rained or watering for a couple days. This product is worth the money if you plan to use it twice a year to keep your lawn in great shape.

Problem with assembly

The assembly was straight forward until I tried to attach the lift handle to the wheel bracket. There is no way to insert the bottom bolt because it is too long. It can't be inserted the other direction without interfering with the aerator knives. I had to cut the bolt about a 1/3 of an inch to insert it. I have read other reviews and this is apparently a common complaint. This is a design flaw that needs to be corrected.

Yes, I recommend this product.
