Yard Tuff Tow-Behind 48 in. Plug Aerator

It was a bear to put together, the directions are very convoluted and the drawings are small. The wheels don't allow enough clearance for the aerator plugs when pulling on pavement, and the arm bar doesn't stay back when aerating. And the wheel bent on my second use! I'm returning mine.

Seems to work okay. Parts were either missing or incorrect. The instructions were awful. Fortunately, I am capable of supplying parts or making what was needed.

The assembly instructions were adequate but could be improved. Some of the spacers received were not the correct length.

Took a while to assemble, had to take it apart and start again a few times. If you’re not ok with spending a couple hours assembling, have someone capable do it for you. I’ll jump straight to what matters: I had to search for the maximum weight capacity to add on top, it is 120lbs, nowhere in the manual or on the box, but found it online. Worked perfectly on my heavy clay soil. The tines are perfect, due to their shape. The aerators with pipes will get clogged instantly with heavy clay soil. these do not allow for clogging and create nice little 1/2” to 1” deep holes, perfect for capturing seeds. I’ve overseeded with radish hoping that it will penetrate and loosen up the soil naturally so that next year i can actually have a lawn. I’ve noticed before that when overseeding heavily compacted clay soil, seeds will only sprout and survive in holes made with an aerator; all other seeds will fail to thrive, as roots cannot properly penetrate clay. Ran it on slow speed over and over again, and as happy with the results.
