I got a new lab-mix rescue puppy last year and since my underground fence was not working, I wanted to show her where the boundries were manually by beeping a training collar from the remote when she got near or past our yard boundry. My SportDog training collar needed a replacement battery but I decided to try this trainer collar since it cost less than just a single SportDog battery. I didn't have too high hopes but after a year of use this is still working well. The collar battery lasts all day - I recharge each evening in about 2-3 hours. I didn't like the plastic neck strap with the buckle so I swapped it for a flexible nylon snap collar I already had which makes it much easier to take on and off each night. I have a 6 acre yard and it covers most of my yard when I am outdoors (line of sight). I usually only use the beeper function and occasionally use the vibrate. I don't like to shock my dog so I don't normally use the shock. My only gripes are: 1) the "shock" button is too easy to hit - sometimes when moving around with the remote on my nect the shock button would get hit - my workaround is to always switch to Dog 2 position when I am not using it to prevent accidental shocks. 2) After a year of use, the "beep" button on the remote sometimes sticks and I have to press several times before it pops back up. 3) Beeper volume doesn't really change much over the 16 levels that can be set and could be louder (the vibrate and shock levels do appear to change though). While certainly not in the same class as the SportDog training collar and nowhere near the range, for a relatively inexpensive training coller I think it is pretty good. My pup now knows the yard boundries and generally stays within them. When she does stray acrosss I just beep her and usually she quickly returns. Good Dog!

Good range, good power settings, good thing it's rechargable because the collar only lasts about 48 hrs per charge. Alot of times it's dead when you try to use it. Would be 5 stars with better battery life.
