The SportDOG Brand FieldTrainer 425XS is our smallest and lightest e-collar built for in-the-field training or hunting with close working dogs. This S' model was built for high-drive, more stubborn dogs by offering a higher static stimulation range than the SD-425X. Consistency and perfect timing are critical to developing your sporting dog, so the remote is quickly and easily operated without having to look at it - which lets you focus on your dog and not your equipment. With only a slight movement of the dial and the push of a button, you will be able to deliver a tone, vibration, or one of the 21 levels of static stimulation. Use these stimulation types to communicate with up to 3 dogs (with purchase of Add-A-Dog collars) out to 500 yards with any of the 425 models.

Gets His Attention!

I bought one of these since I have an underground containment system at home and I've seen how it get my young Lab's attention. We often go to a park on a river where quite a few people bring their dogs to run, play and swim. The dogs often start running and become not very mindful. I just "Beep" him and he stops and listens. I have it set to beep on one button, "nick" (quick shock) on another and steady shock on the 3rd. Rarely any more than a beep is needed.
The collar is waterproof and I haven't had any problems and he swims on and off all day. It charges (and the handheld unit) like a cell phone and lasts all day.
The handheld has a knob that has 8 settings that determine the strength of the shock. You can leave it kinda low and crank it up immediately if needed.

Doesn’t work consistently..

When this product works it works well however most of the time it doesn’t work at all. As soon as I take it off charge I’ll put it on my dog and it may work once or twice then it’ll skip a couple times then it’ll work. Tried the troubleshooting fixes.. trimming hair slightly.. making sure it’s charged and the lights are working.. sometimes they do and sometimes they don’t.. we have owned one of these previously and never had a problem however this one is a dud.

Essential for active dogs.

I've owned four of these and wore out two (batteries, etc.) We have tried other trainers, but keep coming back to the 425XS for the consistency, size, simplicity and range. We've used them in suburban and rural settings as "wireless leashes" and they work consistently. Highly recommend these for giving your dog room to run while keeping connected to them.

I bought this a few weeks ago and have been very happy with it. The size of the collar and remote are nice and small in comparison to my previous larger model. It works great for my dog. I wish the charge lasted a couple days longer.

Defective out of the box

Was on a trip and my dogtra 280c died after 5 years. Pulled in to TS out of need and decided to buy a 425x. Unfortunately out of the box the unit was defective with the battery not charging. No support online on weekends and no luck with online trouble shooting guides. Pretty disappointed as I was not expecting this type of issue out of the box.
No, I do not recommend this product.

I bought this a month ago and am extremely impressed with the responsiveness of this product. I am using it to maintain my dog’s training and it is helping tremendously! In just a month, my pet is becoming more responsive to my verbal commands with less reinforcement necessary.
