Q: Had to replace he original collar. Safety area is about 10 ft. We had it set for 5 ft. with the original unit. I set the distance between 0 and 1 but didn't help. Please advise.

My cats don't care about the beeping and shock

Not sure if it's the collar or the wire, but the range is wildly inconsistent and the beeping is too danged quiet and the shock has little effect on them, even at high voltage.
No, I do not recommend this product.
