Beast of a mower, but...

I almost gave this mower 5 stars (and would definitely got with 4.5 if that was an option), but a few things keep it from a 5 star rating...
First, every mower these days should come with a fuel shutoff valve. It would add all of a buck or two to the price and greatly increase reliability. Given the ethanol in so much of our gas these days, it's imperative to run the carb dry if you won't be running the engine again for a couple of weeks. Instructing the owner to drain the tank, rather than just providing a fuel shutoff valve, is silly. Adding one after the fact was a pain, but I managed to squeeze it in there.
Further, for a premium product like this, it would be nice to have a blade stop instead of engine stop when you pause mowing (e.g., to pick up and toss a rock out of the way). Restarting every time is inconvenient, to say the least. Someone who needs a 4WD mower is obviously going to be encountering more obstacles and such. I would have paid a bit more to have a blade stop (rather than just using a tie-wrap to defeat the safety "feature" anyway).
Finally, the protection for belts and such within the blade housing seems great (we'll see how the plastic holds up), but it's lacking sufficient protection for the front wheel/pulley area. First time out mowing I managed to get a small rock caught in the pulley which stopped the front wheel drive from working until I took things apart and got the rock out of there. Hopefully a one-time thing, but it definitely exposed a weakness.
That said, this mower is a beast and I have no regrets purchasing it. It starts easily, mows my hills easily, and looks like it will hold up over time. I love the rubber wheels (so many are plastic these days) and the "Personal Pace" self-propel drive works better than I expected.

Doesn't start after 4 months

I bought the Recycler, model 20353, in September of 2020 and 4 months later it doesn't start anymore. The coil seems to be broken so I have to wait until Monday to contact Toro. Very disappointing because the previous toro I had lasted me over 10 years. The quality certainly has tailed off.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought my first Toro mower in 1980 and used it for years, actually treated it like a bush hog! It was a beast. This current mower feels great to use although I am considerably older. I hope it lasts me to the end of my mowing days. It truly is one pull start; the bag is easy to put on, take off and empty; it seems very good. Of course I realize that the 1980 model likely had more metal moving parts; I suspect that plastic parts governing the self propelled feature will wear out and need to be replaced. Most of the time in my experience, plastic parts do not last the same as metal parts. Overall I am very pleased with my new Toro mower.

The mower leaves grass behind that I have to rake up after mowing. I never let the bag get more than half full; if I do it is a pain to empty.

Personal pace that drags and hard to push

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had 3 personal pace lawn mowers through the years. I got a 4 wheel drive because I have 2 hills. I can’t hardly push it!! I adjusted the cables on the side to go faster only to find it goes fast almost too fast. But sill have to push it and it’s exhausting. I’m not happy with it! The problem is the spring in the personal pace handle is too stiff. I have to use one hand to push in one direction and the other hand in other direction to make it move!!! Can’t hardly mow. Or I have to keep push , ( jerk) and stop and go! Is there a spring that will better fit it???
