- A: We are assuming that the ground rod is smaller than the inside diameter of the post driver. If this is the case, then yes, it can be used to drive the ground rod. Please keep in mind that there is potential to bend the rod depending on what it is made from.7 years agoHelpful?
Q: will it drive round 1.5" galv pipe without damaging the end? I'm currently using a sledge hammer and wood on top of post.

Steel galvanized posts, 2 3/8 diameter, driver

Worked great. Added galvanized steel posts to a downed fence (old, rotted wooden posts). Did four posts by myself in a half hour. Most of the time was spent checking level and climbing down and back up the stepladder.
