Q&As

1 - 10 of 122 Questions

Q: Is this coop mobile?

1 Answer
  • A: This coop is not designed for portability because there aren’t wheels and handle for easy move. The vendor didn’t recommend adding a wheel kit because there isn’t space left for wheels. If you need to move the coop, please make sure it’s move by at least 2 persons carefully (product weight: 228.8 lbs.).

Q: Is the cover to the run rain proof

1 Answer
  • A: This chicken coop is weather-resistant and features a sloped roof designed to prevent rain and snow buildup. While the coop itself provides shelter, the attached run has a wire top that does not offer protection from the elements. Use the tarp (suggested size: 80.7 × 50 inches / 205 × 127 cm) to cover

Q: i live in tropical weather so i plan to have the window open at all times. is the window screen predator proof

1 Answer
  • A: No, the standard screen on the Producer's Pride Hill Country Chicken Coop is not predator proof. Stock window screens or light wire mesh are meant for basic ventilation and bugs, and persistent night predators like raccoons, foxes, or cats can easily tear or push through them

Q: How to attach door handle buckle onto run side panel

1 Answer
  • A: To attach the door handle buckle to the run side panel of your Producer's Pride Hill Country Chicken Coop, you will need the pull lever and the matching door hardware. The lever passes through a pre-drilled hole in the panel and threads into the sliding door mechanism Step-by-Step Installation Locate the Hardware: Gather the door pull lever and its associated small screws or bolts from your hardware kit .Align the Mechanism: Position the sliding coop door mechanism over the pre-drilled hole on the inside of the door panel. Insert the Lever: Push the door pull lever through the corresponding hole on the exterior of the run side panel so that it meets the door hardware on the inside. Secure the Handle: Thread the lever directly into the door hardware and tighten firmly with a Phillips screwdriver. Attach the Buckle/Clip (if applicable): Many coops have a small metal clip or buckle (sometimes numbered as Part 26) that holds the sliding handle in the open or closed position. Place this clip in the desired spot on the panel, mark the hole, and secure it using a small self-tapping screw and a screwdriver.

Q: What type of feeder and watered needed?

1 Answer
  • A: For the Producer's Pride Hill Country Coop (which has a 6-bird capacity), you need compact, weather-resistant options to prevent spills inside the coop. A 7 to 10 lb hanging or gravity-fed feeder and a 2 to 5-gallon waterer with nipples or auto-fill cups are ideal

Not for Florida

I can only speak to being in Florida. There is not enough ventilation, especially for Florida summers and humidity. The door was peeling off and did not close after the first week. Not a bad starter coop for short period of time or if looking to make your own upgrades to it. Just keep in mind you will be bending over to clean the run.

Delivery nightmare

This product was delivered so damaged, rusting and moldy! We paid for a high quality coop and cannot believe the condition of this package. When the store manager was confronted, they said it must have been the delivery person. This product was obviously torn and sitting in the outdoors/rain for a VERY long time. The instruction book is totally disintegrated (see pics)

No, I do not recommend this product.

Bad Decision, Save Your Money

We purchased this coop less than 6 weeks ago and are very unhappy with it. We live in humid Florida and the wooden door began to swell at the bottom and became difficult to slide very quickly, and this week the door broke (handle and the piece of wood it was attached to came off) while trying to push it closed. We decided not to try and reattach it because it would still be hard to slide. We removed the door and are using a piece of floor tile in the grooves with a paver leaning against it, and the piece of wood that broke off wedged in to hopefully keep the door from being slid open. I don’t feel this coop has enough ventilation, especially for the winter time when the window will need to be closed to keep the cold out; that will leave only one small vent. I also regret getting a coop that sits on the ground. We are past the return window, and unfortunately there is NO WARRANTY.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Good Sturdy Coop

This is a good coop. I have 6 chickens they fit very comfortably in here at night. They do free range during the day. I put it together by myself in 4 hours. I did not use the run part of this, as I have a bigger run. I would definitely recommend this.
