Q: Would this work as a vehicle coating for an old farm truck to keep the mud, snow and gunk at bay?  Would I need to go down to bare metal or will it adhere to the existing paint (with appropriate prep work obviously)?

Q: Would 1 quart be enough to cover a 50" mower deck? Also, I see that it carries a lifetime warranty (according to the can), but how does this stuff really last in actual practice? I've tried several other products, including Por-15..they all wear off...

1 Answer
  • A: The coverage rate for a quart would be 75-100 square feet, more than enough to do a 50” mower deck. This has a limited warranty. The product does wear off over time and it is designed to wear away as it becomes slicker as it does.

Great For Mower Decks

Used this on the underside of a 50" garden tractor mower deck. Fantastic stuff! Grass basically completely stopped sticking to the underside. Mower also performs better in thick wet grass now. Proper preparation is key. I scrubbed off all rust with a wire brush, then pressure washed, then sanded, and then rinsed with degreaser multiple times. Make sure you go above and beyond with the prep work, and you'll be happy you did.

NO NO NO!!!!

I dont know how anyone can say this keeps grass from sticking to their deck. I stripped the whole deck, repainted the outside and used this on the inside. Let me tell you, grass sticks worse than ever!!! I actually have to get down on the ground, scrape out inch plus thick grass with a putty knife and spray wd-40 on as much of the deck as I can reach every time I mow or it fills the deck, throwing my blades off so the grass cuts uneven. It's awful. I busted my butt cleaning that deck up and regret using this stuff...made it a complete waste of time. Stay away!!

Good Stuff, functions as advertised

This paint appears to function as advertised: a slippery, ablative coating which keeps gunk from sticking. It works well. Be aware that "ablative" means that it will wear away with usage and that the graphite can/will stain your clothing. I would be tempted to try it as boat bottom paint here in our frequently-clogged Lake St. Clair, MI boat canal; I'm waiting for someone else to try it first and comment.

Slicker than "snot on a doorknob" !!!

This product works as designed, with the proper prep and application. I've used both the spray can and now this brush-on, on the underside of my mower decks. GREAT results ! Don't be a "chowder-head", follow the directions !!!
