Q: What side is the cord on? How long is the cord? Thanks in advance.

  • A: Hello Ed, thanks for reaching out, and we understand why you’d want to know which side the power cord is on and how long it is for the LW1522IVSM—details like that make installation a whole lot smoother. This model includes a 72-inch (6‑foot) power cord, giving you plenty of reach for most window setups. The cord is located on the front right side when you’re facing the air conditioner, which helps keep the plug accessible during installation. You can review the full product details here: https://www.lg.com/us/air-conditioners/lg-lw1522ivsm-window-air-conditioner If you need further assistance, feel free to email lgdigitalcare@lg.sprinklrsupport.com. ‑LG Digital Care Team ^Rich

Q: Is there a way to hook up tubing or a hose to drain the water outside? My window is within a screened in lanai and I want to be able to install a hose or tube to direct the water outside.

  • A: Hey there! You can attach a drain hose to your LG LW1522IVSM window air conditioner to route water outside of your lanai. However, we do not necessarily recommend this. This model is designed to operate without a drain hose, as it uses a "slinger ring" on the fan blade to splash collected condensation onto the condenser coil to increase efficiency. Q: WHAT ARE THE MEASURMENTS FROM THE FRONT OF THE CABNET (NOT THE FACE) T TO THE VENT OPENINGS ON THE SIDE?

Originally posted on lg.com

  • A: Hey there. Thanks for checking in on the LG Window A/C unit LW1522IVSM—precision matters when planning your space. While the full cabinet depth is approximately 24 inches, the side vent opening sits roughly 4 to 6 inches back from the front edge of the cabinet itself (not including the face cover). This gives you a clean front profile while allowing efficient airflow from the side. For exact specs and installation tips, we recommend referencing the product manual or contacting LG support via email at lg.sprinklrsuppport.com with your contact details for tailored guidance. We're always here for you. ^David

Q: I do not want Wifi how do I disconnect it?

  • A: Hey there, Mik! While the LG LW1522IVSM doesn’t have a dedicated on/off switch for Wi-Fi, it’s designed to run beautifully even without a network connection. If you'd prefer it not connect, you can easily manage that through your router’s settings. Thanks for choosing LG—we’re always here to help you stay cool, your way. ^Anthony

Q: Your unit is 23.63" wide before attaching side curtain panels. My window interior width is 26.22 inches wide. May I NOT attach the curtain panels, install your unit into my frame, effectively fill the gap between A/C unit and window frame and be done?

  • A: If you are unable to fit the LG 14,000 BTU LG DUAL Inverter Window Air Conditioner - White, Model # LW1522IVSM into your window opening with the left and right curtain panels attached, how you effectively fill the gap between the AC and your window frame is at your discretion...^Ivan.

Q: I have this unit installed and it drips enormous amounts of water out the hole -- buckets per day, not "a small puddle", right near our door. I thought the water was supposed to partly evaporate before drips formed. How can I make this AC drip less?

  • A: Hello, RayJD. Even with all the humidity we have had in New York recently, there is no way that the amount of condensation that you are describing as "buckets per day, not "a small puddle," can accumulate in the pan inside the LG 14,000 BTU DUAL Inverter Smart Wi-Fi Enabled Window Air Conditioner, Model # LW1522IVSM. Is the air conditioner installed where it might be exposed to rain? We have had a lot of rain recently, so it is possible that rain got inside the unit. Water is not supposed to evaporate before drips form. The fundamental principle behind the operation of a window air conditioner is based on the refrigeration cycle, which involves the transfer of heat from the room to the outside environment. This process is achieved through the use of two key components: the evaporator and the condenser. In the room air cycle, a fan blows the warm indoor air over the evaporator coil, which is filled with a refrigerant that absorbs the heat. As the refrigerant absorbs the heat from the warm indoor air blowing over the evaporator coils, the condensation that forms drips off the evaporator coils and collects in the pan at the bottom of the air conditioner. The hot air cycle deals with the heat absorbed by the refrigerant during the cooling process. The now-warmed refrigerant travels to the condenser coil located on the exterior part of the window AC unit. A second fan blows outside air over the condenser coil, dissipating the heat and cooling the refrigerant. This cycle is essential in ensuring the window air conditioner effectively cools the indoor air and maintains a comfortable environment. The amount of water you are describing must be coming from outside and is not the result of the condensation dripping off the evaporator coils...^Ivan.

Q: What kind of extension cord do I use on 14,000 btu 115 volt air conditioner?

Originally posted on lg.com

  • A: Hello, Roc240. The manual for the LG 14,000 BTU DUAL Inverter Smart Wi-Fi Enabled Window Air Conditioner, Model # LW1522IVSM, warns against using an extension cord, surge protector, or multi-outlet adapter with this air conditioner. Fire Marshalls and HVAC professionals recommend plugging air conditioners directly into the power outlets instead of using extension cords. When an extension cord is used to power an air conditioner, there are two potential causes of fire. The first is an overheated cable, while the second is sparks from other appliances. When other appliances are switched on or off, any resulting sparks could ignite a fire. It would help if you never used a regular extension cord or power bar for your AC unit. If your house doesn’t have the right power outlets, contact a qualified electrician to install a proper one. It may seem like a small step, but it will keep you safe...^Ivan.

Q: Through wall installation? I have a full depth sleeve in place (I e. The back of the unit doesn't extend beyond the building's exterior wall). Will this unit work in this kind of setup?

  • A: Hi. The LG 14,000 BTU DUAL Inverter Smart Wi-Fi Enabled Window Air Conditioner, Model # LW1522IVSM, cannot be installed as a through-the-wall installation. You cannot cover or block any of the side and top louvers. All side louvers of the cabinet must remain unobstructed and exposed to the outside of the structure. This product is a window air conditioner. As such, a standard single-hung or double-hung window is required for proper installation. Non-window installations, including using sleeves or wall openings and other installation methods, are not recommended...^Ivan.

Good unit for my garage

The unit does appear to work well. What is a bother is the frequent messages on the Thin app and the face of the unit saying I should change a filter on a brand new unit at 250 hours? which still looks brand new. This is not very helpful.

LG
Hello! We’re glad to hear your LG Air Conditioner is keeping things comfortable. The ThinQ reminders can pop up early on a new unit since they’re based on usage hours, but it’s great that your filter still looks clean. Many customers simply reset the alert after checking the filter, and the unit continues running perfectly! EXCEPTIONAL PRODUCT BY LG

This is one of the best AC's I have purchased in recent years. I tended to buy only Friederich's units. This unit is on par with and even better than others purchased: 1. its efficiency in quickly cooling a room since its circulation capability is high! It brings the room room quicly to the desired temperature I set. 2. its quiet performance--amazing! 3. Ease of installation 4. and energy efficiency. The only aspect I can not vouch for (since I have it less than a year) is its durability and how long the unit will last! In fact, I like it so much, that I will purchase a second one and early replace one of my units (non-LG) that has 2 years max to last. An exceptional product by LG!

A Rusted Mess After Just 4 Months

I took this air-conditioner out of a sunny, east-facing window in Boston after just four months and found a rusted mess inside. There is a drain plug in the bottom of the unit but the instructions from LG specifical state it should remain installed while the unit is in use and is only to be removed to drain water from the unit prior to removing it from the window and storing it away for the Winter. In hindsight I never should’ve followed these instructions and instead removed the plug before installing the unit in the window. Going forward this is what I will do but I fear the lifespan of my unit has been greatly reduced by all the rusted components. On top of this, the unit only has a 1-year warranty so the next time I need to use it (7 months from now) it will be out of warranty. If it rusts this much after just four months, how long will it last before a vital component rusts away and the unit dies ? I guess the only option I have is to remove the drain plug and hope. Very disappointed in LG.
