Reviews

Hydrant, 4 ft. is rated 2.1 out of 5 by 14.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Broke in less than a year. Poor design I've had mine for less than a year and it broke already. When I tore it apart I found there are two rods fastened together with a light duty coupling. It can't handle the strain of turning on and off and the coupling broke in half. It's clearly a design flaw as nothing this light duty should have been used.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Chinese junk Do not buy. I installed one of these 2 years ago without checking reviews since I figured Tractor supply would not sell junk. I was wrong and should have checked reviews first. All of a sudden this year I had a major leak and when I dug up the hydrant I found the brass valve on the bottom had split. No way it froze as I am in SE PA, it was a very mild winter, its buried 3 feet deep and it is under a concrete pad!. the cheap casting just cracked. I went back thinking it a fluke and bought a replacement and the second one gave me trouble too but in a different way. I noticed right away that the water flow was weak coming out of the hydrant. Upon trying to adjust the stem I found that if you adjust the stem to get full water flow then you cant shut off the water completely when you put the handle down. If you adjust the stem to have the valve shut completely then when the valve is open you don't get complete water flow. So I have returned the replacement and I am buying a Woodford Y34 like the other hydrants on my property. American made in Iowa!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Broke after a month Bought to replace an existing hydrant. Stopped working after about a month. Took the head off to see what the problem was & the collar that held the rod to the upper part was broken. Very thin collar to hold the 2 together. Nothing nearly as thick as on our other hydrants

Questions & Answers

Can this be used for a shollow well with water starting a 7 ft in dept.

Asked by: Mickey Mcconville
Yes, this will work as long as there is sufficient water pressure being generated.

what about the reverse? With hydrant in off position, turn water supply on and it flows out as if the hydrant was in on position.

Asked by: nitewowl
Unfortunately, it is not capable of a reverse function.

I have great water pressure and flow from my supply line. However, when I connect the hydrant, I only get a small amount of flow. Is there an adjustment to get more flow? If so, where?

Asked by: ChrisW13
To adjust the flow you must adjust the plunger placement a little lower so it will have more range to open up when you pull up on it.

How would I replace just the spicket without diggiging it up the pole.

Asked by: Frustrated1needshelp
The SKU # for the replacement hydrant head is SKU # 1218461. The replacement hydrant handle has a nut on the bottom that connects to the pipe. This just needs to be loosened from the pipe and new one attached. No other adjustments are needed as the replacement head comes pre adjusted.

Has anyone replaced the entire head with a different brand without having to dig the pipe out from the ground? I guess I'm wondering about the pipe diameter and guts in the pipe, whether there is a interchangeable head I can buy??

Asked by: PAgirl
Without knowing the brand that you're trying to replace the original head with, there is no way to tell if it would be compatible or not. However, the SKU # for the replacement head is 1218461.
