Q: If these seeds are planted now in mid Jan, central CT, would the seeds “cold sow” and come up in spring or is it better to wait until spring?

1 Answer
  • A: Planting perennial ryegrass in mid-January in central Connecticut is considered dormant seeding. While it is possible for the seeds to survive and sprout in the spring, it is generally better to wait until early spring (mid-March to early April) for more reliable results

Get a rich green lawn at an affordable price!

Last summer I built a new home and the landscaping crew installed hydro seeding in the heat of summer which is the worst possible time. So last fall and this spring I used GroundWork’s Perennial Ryegrass to overseed my lawn and fill in bare patches. This see germinates quickly in just a little over a week. And comes in very dense and green. It feels like a nice thick, cool carpet under your feet. Just rough up your existing soil, spread the seed, and cover it lightly with peat moss. Just water daily and watch it grow! All my neighbors are super jealous compared to what their builder-grade lawns look like!

Yes, I recommend this product.
