I have a small dog lot 25 by 50' probably half shaded with alot of trees surrounding the area. It also doubles as a chicken run sometimes. In triad area of NC. Would this grass work?

Asked by: Chickinfarmer
Yes, it will work for a dog run. Chickens can be tough on grass if they do a lot of scratching. Be careful on how much access the chickens have to the run. Also make certain irrigation is available to help establish the grass if it turns hot and dry.

Is this good for overseeding in the hot Augusta,ga weather Also should I use starter fertilizer.

Asked by: dorian
Augusta, GA is at the extreme southern edge of the tall fescue belt. The location of seeding(pasure or lawn) combined with what is currently growing, can cause adverse effects. This is the late side of planting a cool season grass. If it turns hot and dry early, the over seeding may fail. Bermuda might be a better choice. A starter fertilizer is generally recommended as it helps the grass to establish faster.

Is this a good product for high traffic areas (e.g. dog paths)?

Asked by: puckfitness
Kentucky 31 tall fescue can take some traffic. It is durable and has a strong root system and can be used on sports fields with infrequent use. It is tough, but because it is non-rhizomatous, it can’t repair itself.
