Q: What assembly has to be done by the customer

1 Answer
  • A: Howdy neighbor! Your Cub Cadet IntelliPower 42-inch riding mower arrives nearly fully built, but you will need to complete a few quick finishing touches before your first mow. You just need to bolt on the steering wheel, mount the high-back seat while plugging in its safety wire, and securely connect the battery terminals. Finally, simply double-check the pre-filled engine oil, add some fresh regular gasoline, and your new tractor will be ready to tackle the yard.

Q: Will it mow in reverse

1 Answer
  • A: Howdy neighbor! The Cub Cadet IntelliPower 42 in. riding mower can mow in reverse, but it requires you to manually activate the RevTEK safety override system on your dashboard first. If you try to back up while the blades are spinning without engaging this special key setting, the mower's safety sensors will automatically shut down the cutting deck.

EXCEPTIONAL BUY!!!

I shopped and took serious consideration with all the various brands available! I eventually found the “Cadet” to be the best all around “Price” vs “Performance “ choice! After getting it home, I hopped on and then looked at my yard! All of a sudden, I wasn’t really prepared for my uphill/downhill yard? I was honestly a bit nervous! I thought… this is going to be impossible…I can’t mow this steep/slanted uphill/downhill yard…It’s not going to handle it! My biggest concern was stability! I wasn’t sure if “I/It” was going to keep upright on the sloping off-cambers! However, it did it with flying colors…”I” and “It” took it all in stride. It performed exactly as I’d originally hoped! I am looking forward to using it for years to come. As an afterthought, I had considered a “Top Performer - All Wheel Drive” walk behind mower…I asked by my Son…”What do you think…Save money on the walk behind or go for the Riding Mower”? He replied, Dad your 65…do you want to invest in your future or walk behind it when you’re 75”? I am now the owner of a Cadet riding mower and it was the best decision I/we’ve made!

Cub Cadet quality

I am a very upset Cub Cadet owner. I bought my XT-1 ith the Kohler SV540 engine in June 2019 expecting it to last. I'm 69 yrs old. The machine as it sits right now has 70 hrs on it. In the past twelve months I've had to replace the battery for the 3rd time since new. The carburetor was replaced in March 2024, because it was dumping raw gas into the combustion chamber effectively hydro locking the engine. After installing the new carb I also added a fuel shutoff and changed the fuel line. The starter died and was replaced only 2 weeks ago. After the starter died I did a complete tuneup, adjusted the valves, replaced the spark plug, changed oil, oil filter and gas filter. I was out mowing my small city lot last weekend and the transmission just stopped while mowing. Wouldn't move forward or reverse. I hauled the machine to my local Cub Cadet Service Center and they told me the transmission is trashed. $900 just for the part.

Good mower. LOUSY CUSTOMER SERVICE

I ordered this mower at around 1 PM on a Friday and received free same day delivery. The mower works great and even came with a full tank of gas. I mowed close to 2 acres and still have 1/3 tank remaining. It's agile and turns quite nicely, not zero turn obviously, but still very nimble. It cuts well and was comfortable to ride for several hours of mowing. Only real complaint is with the delivery. It came on a trailer with all the store tags intact and an envelope attached to the back that I assumed had the manual and any accessories in it. That envelope was completely empty. The mower has a deck wash system that needs an hose adapter in order to function. I suspect it was in the envelope at some point. I called TSC this morning, and after 23 minutes on hold, finally opted to request a call back. It's been another 1/2 hour and still no call. I decided to go on another website and ordered a 4 pack of the adapter. I have no idea what other materials may have been missing. The mower itself gets 5 stars, but the delivery experience gets 1. (had to edit my review for referencing a competitor. It has now been 2 hours since I tried to call TSC customer support and requested a call back and I still haven't heard from them. I reduced my review by a star for the product and now the delivery rates as a 1)

Won’t last

This will be the last Cub Cadet I buy. Just one month past 3yr warranty period, the hydrostatic transmission completely went. After some reading online this seems common. Not worth the money if it only lasts 3 years before you have to buy an $800 transmission to replace (not including labor).

No, I do not recommend this product.
