I shopped and took serious consideration with all the various brands available! I eventually found the “Cadet” to be the best all around “Price” vs “Performance “ choice! After getting it home, I hopped on and then looked at my yard! All of a sudden, I wasn’t really prepared for my uphill/downhill yard? I was honestly a bit nervous! I thought… this is going to be impossible…I can’t mow this steep/slanted uphill/downhill yard…It’s not going to handle it! My biggest concern was stability! I wasn’t sure if “I/It” was going to keep upright on the sloping off-cambers! However, it did it with flying colors…”I” and “It” took it all in stride. It performed exactly as I’d originally hoped! I am looking forward to using it for years to come.
As an afterthought, I had considered a “Top Performer - All Wheel Drive” walk behind mower…I asked by my Son…”What do you think…Save money on the walk behind or go for the Riding Mower”? He replied, Dad your 65…do you want to invest in your future or walk behind it when you’re 75”? I am now the owner of a Cadet riding mower and it was the best decision I/we’ve made!

Cub Cadet quality

I am a very upset Cub Cadet owner. I bought my XT-1 ith the Kohler SV540 engine in June 2019 expecting it to last. I'm 69 yrs old. The machine as it sits right now has 70 hrs on it. In the past twelve months I've had to replace the battery for the 3rd time since new. The carburetor was replaced in March 2024, because it was dumping raw gas into the combustion chamber effectively hydro locking the engine. After installing the new carb I also added a fuel shutoff and changed the fuel line. The starter died and was replaced only 2 weeks ago. After the starter died I did a complete tuneup, adjusted the valves, replaced the spark plug, changed oil, oil filter and gas filter. I was out mowing my small city lot last weekend and the transmission just stopped while mowing. Wouldn't move forward or reverse. I hauled the machine to my local Cub Cadet Service Center and they told me the transmission is trashed. $900 just for the part.

Complete waste of money! Do not buy!!

If you want to waste $2500 then this mower is for you. I bought this two years ago, starting my third. Start of second year the reverse went completely out. It also mows at an angle, changed blade, tires are aired up evenly. Now at the start of the third year the power wire came loose and then it was run over while mowing. Now I have an even more frustrating issue to try to figure out how to fix this mess. I wish I never bought this brand.

Cub Cadet 42" with intellipower- Dream Mower!

My yard is about 1/4 of an acre, but there's no shade and its very slopey in areas. After 4 years of push mowing, I decided to upgrade to a riding mower. After researching and comparing cost to value, I landed on this mower. I love it! It cuts evenly, the intellipower is amazing depending on the grass thickness and overall condition, this isn't a zero turn mower, but it has the tightest steering of any riding mower ive been on. The 42" is perfect for my size yard. I love that it has the deck cleaning option and adjustable seat. Its a very comfortable mower and I like the easy forward and reverse pedal. And let's face it, this thing is beautiful! I feel like this could easily tackle 1-2 acres with ease. I definitely recommend this mower.

This riding mower offers a great first impression. The intellipower feature actually works, meaning you can not only hear but also notice the RPMs go higher when the mower senses thicker or wet grass. Even though the mower is still new, we don't notice any problems or issues. Only giving it 4 stars due to unsure of the longevity of mower. Overall, very pleased and highly recommend.
