Great mower. We love it

I looked all over for a lawn tractor /mower that would handle the work that I needed it to and be a reasonable price. And I lucked out and found the Cub cadet. I wish I had invested in one sooner.

It cuts decently but the proprietary replacement blades are difficult to find and cost double what aftermarket blades cost. The replacement battery is expensive and the battery compartment has to be modified to accept a standard battery that is less expensive. No included hours meter is a cheap omission as it is essential to properly maintain the machine. It also gets poor “grass mileage”. Takes more than one tank of gas to cut my lawn while my previous mower would finish with fuel left in the tank.

So far we've used this through two growing seasons. Had it delivered and my wife did the assembly while I was at work. Not only does it do great on the lawn, but I've used this to cut trails through our pasture. It's small, nimble, and stable. Capable of taking down 6.5ft tall thistle and weeds growing lose enough together you can't see a foot into it. That being said, it's definitely no match for a tractor with a brush hog, but in a pinch (or in a tight spot) this can do some brush clearing. Take it slow and keep the deck up high. Oil change is pretty painless, but I do recommend one of those three-arm universal filter wrench tools because it's a pain to remove with a normal filter wrench. Changing the blades doesn't require removing the deck, but it certainly helps. We've changed them out once because I ran over a wheel hidden in the pasture. Tires also don't do great through overgrown fields with thick brush. We've introduced tire slime which has mitigated the problem. Honestly the only thing I wish was better is the tires. For the average person mowing a lawn this thing works a treat. We've put almost 100hrs on it since June 2025 and it starts up first try and mows like it's brand new. Very happy overall with the XT1 LT50. Highly recommended.
