You can lower the temperature by lifting the heat lamp. Chicks should be in a brooding area that has a surface temperature of 90- 95-degrees for the first week. Q: Should I not have been told any special treatment or care if sold Cornish cross. I specifically said I wanted pretty back yard chickens for free range and egg laying and I was sold 7 Cornish cross. I had no clue anything about them until I noticed growth.

- A: No they are not, there are certain breeds offered on TSC website that you can purchase with vaccinations. Demand is extremely high right now, and chicks are selling quickly on the website. Please keep checking back for the availability if you are looking for vaccinated chicks. If you have never had Marek's disease on your property, typically you wouldn't need to vaccinate for this, other than for peace of mind. If your birds were to get Coccidiosis, this is treatable. - A: Hi Shane, Cornish Cross are hybrid meat birds and aren’t intended for reproduction. If you’re looking to be self-sufficient, Cornish Cross aren’t the right breed. You’d need to switch to a slower-growing, dual-purpose or heritage breed if you want birds you can hatch and raise yourself.a year agoHelpful?

I don’t recommend buying from tractor supply. They arrive 3 days after posted, and usps delivery in my house after being in route for 4h in the hottest day we have yet, detail: nobody was home, have to return from work to take care of them, two arrive dead and the remaining is dying one by one by stress. We always have chicks, bought every year but first time from here. Don’t recommend. All chicks can survive 24 hours without food and water, not 3 days, not in the hottest day inside a hot car. Also usps are supposed to call you when they arrive and you pick them up as early as 6a.m. If you need chick buy from https://www.cacklehatchery.com.
No, I do not recommend this product.

We offer a 48 hour guarantee for all our shipped birds. Given they receive the proper care upon delivery we cover any losses up to 2 days after delivery. We can offer a refund or reshipment depending on the number of losses.
