Coleman 700-Lumen Premium Dual Fuel Lantern with Case

All around great lantern for the money' I am impressed with the ability of the lantern to stay lit at low light settings.

This lantern works really well. Seems a bit more stable than the 200e that i have, but it does still have a bit of flicker to it. It will pulse when low on pressure or fuel as well. Been running fine on pump gas. Maybe placebo, but it seems to run better with the ethanol extracted out of solution. There is almost no smell with either coleman fuel or pump gas. It feels cheaper than the vintage 200e but not in a way youll notice while its running. The pumping action definitely is not as smooth but its functional. I do however really like the ommission of the metal surrounding the globe. This throws light very evenly. I have tried both thoriated peerless mantles and modern coleman yttrium mantles. Truly, both are fine. Personally i think the color is more pleasant on the yttrium mantles, but the peerless are a bit brighter and have a green tint. If you use thoriated mantles, please try to contain and throw out the mantles when replaced. They are radioactive so try not to get the dust everywhere and wash your hands thoroughly after. Obviously an led light is going to be more reliable, safer, and more efficient to run in an emergency. This has all the charm and comforting warmth. Pretty cheap to run as well when using pump gas.

Lantern tank doesn’t fit in the base of the carrier. It’s larger than the pocket in the base. I would like to return it but I no longer have the order number so I’m out of luck on that. My fault.

I don’t think anything else comes close to function and purpose as a Coleman lantern does. My only regret is that I got this sooner. I traveled to Alaska for two months and wanted an alternative to electric lights to limit the amount of battery electricity I use, since I was also powering a starlink and a diesel heater, the battery power was really limited. So finding this came in clutch. I love that it uses normal gasoline, the mantles are also super cozy bright, and a warm light at that. It’s pretty easy to use once you learn how to pump it. It definitely lights up a medium sized campsite, and provides a really nice ambience. It makes a slight noise but it’s faint. Coleman started with lanterns, I can’t imagine a better light source. For me I just like that it’s dependable and that I can fix anything on it myself, I feel a lot safer with it than an electric light source and it helped me conserve my battery bank. Gasoline is also the cheapest fuel source and easiest to obtain, so I never felt insecure about not having a fuel source or having problems with propane freeze up or butane when it gets cold. Definitely get yourself one!
