The dethatcher works fine, I added weight to it for better penetration. The only problem I had was that the hitch on my zero turn Gravely was much higher than the hitch bar on the dethatcher. I made me a simple drop down hitch from some flat bar I had and it hooked up fine and works great.Other than the hitch problem I would recommend this unit to anyone..

I bought the 48 inch dethatcher. I did put blocks on the top to give it more weight. When putting it together I noticed right away that the metal was not very thick compared to my old one. The tines were much thinner, the handle was much thinner, and the braces that connect to your riding mower were much thinner. At that point I should’ve brought it back but I didn’t. The very first time I used it, it wasn’t dragging the tines at all ,it was walking from side to side. It wasn’t picking up any thatch on the sides, only in the middle. I used it for 15 minutes, noticed that one of the bars was already bent that held it onto my mower. I used it another 15 minutes, both bars bent, and the handle that is used to lift it up, to clean the tines,was bent and no longer lifted the tines up. I do not recommend buying this detacher.
