What is recommended as a base for a 1,550 gal tank on?

Asked by: Robert norcal
Hi Robert, here are some general guidelines that Norwesco provides about preparing a base for your tank: Inspect the surface to ensure a smooth, level area that will supply full bottom support. A properly constructed concrete pad that is capable of supporting the contents of the tank is the best support and is recommended above 2,000 gallons. Other materials such as very flat blacktop, or contained, packed sand or pea gravel have been used successfully. All surfaces must maintain uniform support through freeze/thaw, erosion and other disturbances. Please feel free to call me if you need further advice. Thanks, Bob 952-446-8807

I just bought one of these and can't figure out where it vents air from. There is a tiny hole on top that I thought was for wiring. Is this the air vent?

Asked by: Brandonros
All of our tanks have vented lids and this is how they are vented.

Hi, Can this tank be placed underground?

Asked by: bod7000
Hi bod7000, Tanks specifically designed for above ground use cannot be put underground. If it is put below ground, the weight of the earth around the tank will cause the walls to collapse. We do make septic and cistern tanks that are designed to be buried. See "Water & Waste Management Tanks" under Norwesco's Products tab at the top page of our website. These tanks can be special ordered through your local TSC store. Please call me if you need any help with your order process. Thanks, Bob 952-446-8807

What is the size of the fitting that is by the lid?

Asked by: dale4253
There is no other vent besides the one that is installed into the lid itself – which is 2” in diameter.

There are two questions regarding below-grade/above-grade installation; mine is slightly different. Can this be partially submerged below-grade for temperature regulation? Say the sidewalls, but not the top?

Asked by: Mike29044
Norwesco manufactures two specific lines of tanks. One is LST (Liquid Storage Tanks) which are tanks engineered for ABOVE GROUND use only. The second type of tanks is WWM (Water & Waste Management), which are tanks engineered for BELOW GROUND use only. TSC has a number of our tanks listed as SKU’d items, but all of those including the specific tank questioned above are LST tanks. Norwesco LST tanks are engineered for the pressures that are forced outwardly from the contents within the tank. These tanks must be set upon a smooth surface that will provide full support for the tank and all of its contents through any freeze/thaw cycles as well as any other regular environmental cycles in the region. Norwesco WWM tanks are engineered for the weight and the pressure from the earthen backfill that is filled into the corrugations of the tank walls. These below ground tanks actually get some of their strength and rigidity from the backfilled corrugations. With this being said, even partially burying an LST tank would void the warranty. Also, any customer that purchasing a below ground WWM tank must bury it complexly or its warranty would be voided as well.

Ok I am in Susanville CA. I have a 16 foot long by 6 feet 3 inch wide utility trailer. Can this be loaded and hauled on its side using blocks to keep it from rolling and roping it down

Asked by: Cliffhanger
If laid on its side, it will definitely fit on your trailer. As far as securing it down, your method seems feasible.
