What size plug do I need for the drain and does tractor supply have one?

Asked by: DHobbs
Mr. Hobbs, It will depend on which 65 gallon tank you have. TSC offers a 65 gallon vertical tank that has a 1 1/4" female threaded outlet. TSC carries a nylon hex - SKU 211454699 plug for this tank. TSC offers a 65 gallon leg tank that has a 3/4" female threaded outlet. TSC carries a nylon hex - SKU 211056899 plug for this tank.

Would this tank be suitable for a rainwater cistern?  Can an over flow system be plumbed to it?

Asked by: Bill6
Hi Bill6, The 65-gallon leg can certainly be used as an above ground cistern tank, but an overflow system may be difficult to plumb as the lid occupies most of the top of the tank and there is very little room for additional fittings. You may want to look at the 150-gallon tank on Norwesco's website - you'll notice fitting flats that can accommodate extra plumbing fixtures better. Your TSC store manager can place a "special order" if you decide to go with the 150-gallon version. Feel free to call me with any questions. Thanks, Bob 952-446-8807

Has there been a maximum temperature of liquid (water) established for this product?

Asked by: DungusHill
Greetings, Polyethylene storage tanks have a maximum storage temperature of 120 degrees F. Contents with a temperature in excess of 120 degrees F-even for a short period of time-can weaken the tank's structural integrity and make it susceptible to deformation and failure. Thanks, Bob 952-446-8807

If this tank is filled with water can it be left in an unheated trailer all winter in the Norwich ny area? Will it attach to a standard garden hose?

Asked by: NJ nana
The tank itself does not have a minimum temperature rating. If you plan to keep the liquid in the tank and you know that it will freeze, make sure that you leave room for expansion. The most likely part to crack on the tank is the bulkhead fitting which can be easily replaced. Tank Expert - Bob

I plan to use the tank to ferment home made beer. Is the little blue tab on top of the screw in cap air tight? Or is it a vent? Is the tank air tight? Has anyone used it to ferment beer for a couple of weeks before bottling it?

Asked by: balex
Hi balex, The blue tab is indeed a vent. We do not offer a ventless option for this sized tank. However, feel free to call me if you want some help finding a tank that might suit your needs if ventless is required. Thanks, Bob 952-446-8807
