Who is the manufacturer of this tank and what is the thickness of the walls?

Asked by: Calynn
The manufacturer of the tank is Norwesco. Norwesco does not advertise the thickness, as it depends where on the tank you measure as to what it will be. The black and dark green “water only” tanks are engineered for the weight of water only. These tanks are 1.0 specific gravity or 10 pounds per gallon. Again, depending where you are measuring, it can be dramatically different, but as a whole they make a blanket statement that it is not less than ¼”.

Will cutting the top off hurt the integrity of the product? Want to make it into a large fish pond

Asked by: littleroots
It would compromise the tank and would void the warranty.

I will be filling from a well and then pumping water out for pasture irrigation. Does it come with a fill shut off float or can one be installed?

Asked by: DoubleRD
Hi DoubleRD, Norwesco does not offer float accessories in our portfolio. However, Tractor Supply features many float options on their website and likely at your local store too. Feel free to call me if you have any trouble finding what you need. Thanks, Bob 952-446-8807

I am wanting to put polymer modified asphalt, water base in the 3,000 gollon take you sell. Temp will be in the low 100 degree temp range. Do you fell that there will be any problems with the tank?

Asked by: concrete
This tank is intended for water use only. The asphalt will damage the integrity of the tank.

What is the expected life of these tanks?

Asked by: lev5
There is no good way to determine the life span of a polyethylene tank. Many variables can have an effect on the tank - what type of material is being stored in the tank? Is the tank used indoors or outdoors? If the tank is outdoors, what part of the country are you located in? Tanks used outdoors in Arizona or Florida are subjected to more intense sunshine than in Minnesota for example. UV rays will have a detrimental effect on the life span of any poly tank. Is the tank being used strictly for stationary storage or for transport? Each of these factors will have an effect on a polyethylene tank. Should you have a problem with a Norwesco tank they feature warranties from three to five years.

Can these tanks be painted? If so, what is the best paint to use for them?

Asked by: Ukulelemike
The manufacturer's “official” stance on this is that none of their tanks should be painted. However, we are aware many people do. Again, “officially” they do not recommend any products to paint with.
