How thick is the wall of the tank?

Asked by: MFerg
The most specific we can be on an answer for this would be “not less than 1/4 inch”, however much more detail is truly required for this answer. The wall thickness varies from top to bottom on the tank and so it is not the best gauge for determining the quality of a tank. The very bottom of the tank is the thinnest part and is made that way to flex when the tank is empty or full. Generally, the wall becomes thicker as you go from the top to the bottom of a vertical tank such as this. This is done to increase resistance to head pressure created by the height of the liquid in the tank. The radius of the tank is thicker to increase strength where it is most critical. Norwesco produces three grades of polyethylene tanks - premium, heavy duty and water(this tank). The Norwesco water tank is designed and manufactured to hold product with a specific gravity up to 1.1 (9.2lbs per gallon) at 73 degrees F. (An increase in liquid temperature will substantially decrease the specific gravity rating.)

What is the thread type on the upper 1.5" bulkhead fitting? It does not appear to be NPT.

Is there a drain on the outside to drain off water? This would work great to use for rain water collection for hot tub water.

Asked by: shopop
The tank has a 2” bottom fitting and a 1.5” top fitting.

How is the container keeping the potable water "safe" inside during for example summer heat. Does it contain multi-layer resins capable of protecting the water inside from outside environment and to keep contents "fresh" inside?

Asked by: Stefan13
Hi Stefan, Norwesco's water tanks are made with UV stabilized resins approved by the FDA for safe storage of potable water. Our water tanks are black in color which impedes the amount of sunlight penetrating the tank and thereby reducing the potential for algae growth. While not always possible, keeping your tank sheltered or indoors will prolong its life. Feel free to call with any questions. Bob 952-446-8807

What is the recommended way to clean the inside of this tank if it gets too much debris in it? It doesn't seem to have a drainage plug, and the opening is too small to crawl into.

Asked by: rpbancroft
Hello, The tank comes with a 16" Diameter lid (50" circumference), so it is accessible from the top. Also, it has a 2" outlet fitting for draining purposes. The tank weighs about 90 lbs., so you can tip it when empty to clear contents. Thanks, Bob 952-446-8807

Will this fit in my 8' bed of my pickup, when I buy it to bring it home?

Asked by: steven139
Hi Steven, The tank is 67" D x 44" H. You'll need to measure the width of your bed to determine if you can haul it. Thanks, Bob 952-446-8807

Can this tank be put on a 2 ton flatbed truck to be filled and used with a submersible pump to get water?

Asked by: Mike1985
It can definitely be used with a pump. Whether or not it will fit on your truck depends on the size of the bed. The dimensions for this tank are as follows: 67" diameter x 44"H. If you do choose to have it in your truck, you will need to make sure to strap it down. The trick is to make sure the tank is "snug". Any tighter and it could cause structural damage to the tank.
