DO NOT BUY - COULD KILL YOUR PET

If you listen to any review in your life, I am begging you to make it this one. I never write reviews on anything - but this, I HAD to. I want to start off by making it clear that you 100% should NOT buy this product if you don’t want your cat to become sick and/or die. I used the poultry flavored toothpaste on my cat & the following day she became extremely ill. She threw up multiple times, became very lethargic, disoriented & stopped eating & drinking - when she hid under the bed I immediately knew something was wrong. I took her out from under the bed & when I set her down, she went completely limp & could not stand up straight. I picked her up & held her then her head tilted back, so I set her down & she began convulsing. She had a seizure that lasted a few seconds. Straight away we took her to the emergency vet. We told them the toothpaste was the only new product we gave her. Her body temperature & blood pressure went down very low. They gave her fluids & an antiemetic, then we took her back home. Overnight she got a lot worse. She was not moving. She would cry if you tried to pick her up or get her to eat/drink. She didn’t go to the bathroom or even sleep. We took her back to the emergency vet in the morning & they hospitalized her. They did lots of tests & her kidney levels were very high (when they were perfect just weeks before) & she had lots of inflammation. They diagnosed her with triaditis. She was in the hospital for a couple days. The total we paid was over $5000. If we didn’t hospitalize her & spend this much money, we would’ve had to euthanize her. I honestly didn’t believe she would make it out & I am so extremely grateful that she is still alive. Whatever is in the toothpaste did damage to her organs & now she needs subcutaneous fluids for the rest of her life. I know for a fact it was the toothpaste because she was doing 100% fine directly before the use of it & if you read other 1-star reviews, you will come to find out that thousands of other pets have become significantly ill, experienced seizures & even died after the use of this toothpaste. I usually read 1-star reviews & I truly regret not reading them for this product. I recently lost 2 cats & it was beyond traumatizing almost losing a 3rd just because I wanted her to have good oral health. It’s so sad how close she came to death & the damage that was done to her organs. This toothpaste needs to be recalled, ASAP. It contains ingredients such as sorbitol & potassium thiocynate (which is toxic) that are harmful to pets. Please, do not use this toothpaste. I know that it won’t happen to every pet & that there are pets who have tolerated it, but just the fact that there is a chance this could happen to you should deter you from buying this product. I wish I would’ve got her teeth professionally cleaned, although it’s costly - I would’ve spent a lot less than the amount I spent for her to be hospitalized. Please, if you can, get your pet’s teeth professionally cleaned at the vet or pet dentist. If you can’t afford to, you can use a toothbrush or gauze & brush their teeth with broth. There are no regulations on the majority of these products. These people can sell anything with no consequences. Also, Virbac will just blame your cat for getting sick & say they already had problems to begin with. If I were to give my cat this toothpaste again, she would 100% have another seizure & die but I’m not going to risk my cat’s life to prove a point. I’ll die on this hill.  I can only hope one day there will be a lawsuit against Virbac. They need to pay up for all of the pet deaths & emotional distress they have caused. So so so disheartening & sickening.

No, I do not recommend this product.
