Rated 5 out of 5 by from 2+ Years Temporary Solution? I purchased a rural home that had been empty for 7 years that had become the local kids hang out at night. After waking up to trucks parked behind my home and in the yard I decided a driveway gate was needed asap! This gate fit my budget and was in stock in town at my local TS. It has been up for over 2 years and doing the job intended. It did take a few scraps from trucks unaccustomed to it being there when I first installed and has faded in the sun. It will require repainting this fall to prevent rust. It has now been equipped with the solar mighty mule gate opener and handles it nicely. A temporary fix has become a permanent solution!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Overpriced but needed it in a hurry Overpriced as I said, but needed it in a hurry, so no time to do price comparison. It's your average everyday metal pipe gate. Lightweight, and will probably have to replace in 5-10 years unless we take care of it. Not that we don't have a million other things to do. Although I only spoke of the bad parts - I still have it 3 stars - average quality for what it is - cheap gate.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Decent gate for the money I purchased this gate because I was unable to find any dealers of the flat panel gates that work better for my particular horse. this is the third set that I have had to buy because he can accordion these imparticular gate and I only get a year maybe two if I'm lucky.

The question was asked, how long is the gate, you gave two answers. One was 11' 9" and the other was 12'. So how long is the gate and how long from the end of the gate to the hinge mounting point? Thanks.

Asked by: Skip44
The gate is actually 11'9". The measurements allows for three inches of room to install necessary gate hardware.

When you say you want to allow 3" for the hinges, do you mean you would need 12' 3" of space to install? Or, that the gate is 11' 9" long?

what is the best way to repaint this gate?

Asked by: David616y
-Scrape away any peeling paint on the fence with a putty knife. -Inspect the fence for rust. If you find any, scrape away as much as you can with a wire brush, steel wool or sanding tools, then wipe the rust spots with a rag soaked in mineral spirits. Some rust may remain, but remove as much as you can. -Cover the rust spots with a rust inhibitor and allow it to dry. -Wash the fence with soap and water to clean the surface. -Paint the fence with a metal priming paint and allow it to dry. This helps protect the fence against corrosion and provides a better surface for the paint to adhere to. You can apply the priming agent with paintbrushes or with a paint glove, which is a glove similar to an oven mitt but covered with the same type of material as on a paint roller. -Apply a coat of paint to the fence and allow it to dry. Add a second coat if needed.
