Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid latch I would clamp and pre-drill holes if possible. It was a bit difficult to mount with the interior and exterior latches. Has very good tolerances and works very well.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from No Bad overall for medium use can't take a large padlock and this review needs to be longer so blah bla blah

How many lbs of pressure can these latches withstand? I have draft horses...

Asked by: HannahBear
The latch is designed for standard 1 5/8”- 2” tube style gate. The latch is designed to withstand the same forces the gate is capable of withstanding.

How much space should I allow between the tubular gate and the fence post--it seems like 1 answer says 7 7/8" and another says 2 to 2 1/2".

Asked by: Elizabeth777
Approximately 2.5 inches

I have 2 "mouthy" horses that will try & have succeeded to unlatch gates. How easy is it to unlatch this lock?

Asked by: Barb1
This gate latch has a lock on it, so the horses would not be able to unlatch it.

Do these adjust if your opening between the post and gate are not exact? What spacing is recommended?

Asked by: Price
It is not adjustable and you would want to allow between 2 and 2.5 inches of spacing.

I have a wooden fence post and the gate is a tube gate. Will this latch work?

Asked by: JennyH
Yes, it will work as long as the diameter of your tube gate is between 1-5/8" to 2".

Assuming that I have two tube gates whose thicknesses are compatible with this particular latch, is there a way to to use one latch to lock two gates? If so, how does one go about doing it?

Asked by: Roy Munson
One latch will only be able to lock one gate.

How much space is needed from the gate to the post that the latch will be installed on is needed?

Asked by: Cilonis
The latch body in 1 5/8” thick, so at least 7 7/8” between the post and latch to allow enough clearance for the gate to swing properly.
