Item Information

Clovers, the primary ingredients in this blend, are a type of legume that are critical to any plot as forage or complementary plants. They are tender and palatable, and they provide high levels of protein and carbohydrates that deer populations love. Plus, they play host for nitrogen-fixing bacteria, which help maintain critical nitrogen levels in the soil. The second ingredient in this formula, chicory, is a plant used in New Zealand as a forage on commercial venison farms. It has an elongated leaf and produces a taproot that allows the plant to better survive periods of drought; a useful trait in hot, sometimes dry southern summers. Plant Clover Blend alone at 4 lbs. per 1/2 acre or with 30-50 lbs. of ryegrass or small grains at 4 lbs. per acre.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from First food plot I planted this clover on a 1/2 acre field without much cultivating. Just enough to get the grass off. Planted in early August with some 10-10-10 and buy mid September "Wow". 8 to 10 inches tall very thick clover. My son shot his first deer over this clover plot. VERY pleased !!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Planted 5 food plotsin Tn. I bought several 40 lb bags of the Plot Spike and planted it in 5 different locations on my farm for deer and turkey. I planted it in areas around existing row crops that were left vacant due to being to wet when planted. I planted it in August . Now, in October the plots have flourished. I cannot believe how well it has turned out. The Chicory has really jumped up and covered the field. I never expected these results from a affordable blend.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible I planted this clover and an alfalfa side by side in early June. The same type soil, same disking and soil prep, same ferterlizer rate. It rained the next day after planting and have had lots of rain since. I have a decent stand of alfalfa and zero clover.
