Q: Do I hardner to the first coat?
3 months ago1 Answer
- A: Hi Neighbor! Majic Tractor, Truck & Implement Primers and Enamels are high quality, hard-drying alkyds that exhibit excellent adhesion, corrosion resistance and protection to surfaces subjected to hard use, and harsh exposures… While Majic T&I Enamels are designed for use over Majic T&I Primers, painting either over a properly prepared epoxy primer should pose no problems (though adhesion testing is strongly recommended). The epoxy primer must be clean, dry and free of chalk, dirt, grease/oils, or other surface contaminants that may interfere with the adhesion of Majic T&I Products – and light sanding of the epoxy primer would be recommended to create a “profile” for a better, stronger, mechanical bond between 2 product films. Please carefully read, and follow, all label directions regarding application of Majic T&I Products, with special attention paid to the recommended applied thickness of each coating (thin applications @ 2.5 – 3.0 mils wet), and the allowable re-coat times for each (minimum 24 hours between coats). Too heavy an application, and/or re-coating too soon will result in a film that won’t dry “hard” for several days…or longer.3 months agoHelpful?
Q: Can Majic Tactor and Truck paint be sanded and buffed
8 months ago1 Answer
- A: Hello Neighbor, Yes, the base Majic Tractor and Truck Paint can be sanded and buffed, particularly when using a hardener and clear coat. For the base enamel, you can wet-sand between coats with fine grit paper to improve adhesion and after the final coat, you can buff the surface after allowing it to cure.8 months agoHelpful?

Q: How to thin
2 years ago1 Answer
- A: The recommended reducer for Majic Tractor, Truck & Implement Primers and Enamels is Majic Reducer, #8-0750. Majic Reducer is a proprietary blend of “exempt” solvents that blend perfectly with Majic T&I Primers and Finishes, and adds 0 VOC to the host product (allowing host to remain VOC compliant). Acetone is an exempt solvent, and is miscible with Majic T&I Primers and Enamels, but Acetone is an extremely fast drying solvent that can affect the film’s ability to flow & cure properly. The application of Majic T&I products require a very thin application (recommended at between 2.5-3.0 mils wet), and a minimum of 24 hours to recoat…these caveats apply even with the use of a faster drying solvent such as Acetone. Very thin coats + 24 hours (minimum) allowable recoat time.2 years agoHelpful?

Q: Why is the paint bubbling up on me. I have applied two coats now and both times it has bubbled up.I am now having to sand it down again and purchase more paint
3 years ago1 Answer
- A: There are many factors that may cause, or contribute, to bubbles forming into an applied paint film - too heavy an application, recoating too soon, improper reduction, atmospheric conditions (at the time of application, and/or during the critical 12-16 hours following application), etc. Without more information, it will be difficult to answer this question definitively, but most commonly bubbles will occur when the paint has been applied too heavily, and/or recoated too soon. If these bubbles occur only in the second coat, this is usually a pretty good indication that solvents (in the form of vapor), or air, has been trapped in the first applied film and still needs to escape before the applied film can cure completely and properly. Sanding will be necessary to remove the texture created by the bubbles, but if the paint has completely cured (hard throughout), complete removal is generally not necessary. Once the film has been sanded smooth, and all sanding dust has been removed, it is safe to apply another coat of Majic Tractor & Implement Enamel. Product may be applied by brush, roller or spray - and should be reduced, with Majic Reducer, at a rate of 12-15% for spray application, or about 10% for brush & roll. Be careful when applying by roller not to roll too quickly, and not to run the roller too dry before refilling as either may cause bubbling in an applied film. Be sure to apply new coating in a very thin coat (recommended at 2.5 mils wet - or approximately the thickness of a sheet of notebook paper) - then allow a minimum of 24 hours before handling, sanding or recoating (if necessary). Please Note: Do NOT use unapproved solvents to reduce Majic Tractor & Implement coatings with, and for best results, apply when relative humidity is below 60-65% (application during periods of higher humidity requires a longer "allowable" handling or recoat times). Do NOT apply Majic Tractor & Implement Coatings in direct sunlight or in temperatures > 85 degrees F.3 years agoHelpful?

Fades really fast. It's crap!

This stuff is CRAP! I painted a little 14' boat with it a few years ago. It cracks, chips and fades like nothing I've ever seen. It claims to be weather resistance, but that is absolutely not true!
No, I do not recommend this product.

I would like to say that whoever says this is good paint must have stock in the company or something because I've seen roofing tar get harder than this crap. I fell for it but I only did one side. Used hardner and everything. Two weeks later here I am on new years morning using a heat gun to get this stuff off of here. It won't sand off. TS needs to take this off the shelves.
