Great primer if directions are followed

I have used a gallon and a half of this product on several tractor restoration products. i always bought quart cans and the settling at the bottom off the can is the way the product is. The technical data sheet says the easiest way to mix it is to pour it from one can to another until the product is smooth. This works great from my experience. keeping the reducer down to a minimum after thoroughly mixing and applying thin coats speeds drying time. Dry to touch in 4 hours at 77 degrees, sandable in 24. Fills minor imperfections nicely but needs to be sanded down to get a nice smooth finish on the overcoat. overcoat sticks like glue to it.

Beware!

This stuff will not dry. as another reviewer stated it seems that this company went through a transition which led them to lower the VOC content in this primer. Unless you are in a paint booth using equipment which lets you spray with absolute precision, run away. In the humid South this stuff just won't dry. After a week of applying, I can scratch it with boiled spaghetti. I contacted the manufacturer and have heard nothing back.

Did the job

I agree to some extent with some reviews that this product does not seem to dry super hard. However, This did dry fine for what I'm doing. I think the slight softness might add some measure of durability. Follow the directions and apply THIN coats. I'm not preparing my farm implements for the concourse. I want them protected and looking respectable. If you want rock hard urethane primer and a mirror finish, you need to pay 5x the price and get PPG or Sikkens or Dupont automotive finishes. I still don't know if you can add top coat without sanding. The dope than answered my question said to call the manufacturer(why bother if you don't know anything?)

Garbage

Will not harden, junk. I now have to strip the part and prime it again.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Absolutely the worst primer you can buy

Primer doesn't dry. Days later, 80 degree days, and it's still soft. It's as if I floated a thin layer of putty. Some others have commented that this primer was purchased because the store was out of Rustoleum. If this is the case for you, just buy some silly putty and you'll get the same results. Garbage product.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Just NO

I bought this primer as the rustoleum wasn't available. Worst mistake I could have ever made. It never dried, days later and if I went to sand it, the primer just ripples and really just sets like warm gum. I never had to chemically remove paint before, but I could never spend that much on sandpaper to save my life. Never again
