Q&As

1 - 10 of 10 Questions

Q: Is the reservoir translucent enough to see the water level change from outside? So I know when it is nearly empty? Thank you!

1 Answer
  • A: Hello, to answer your question, no, the reservoir on the K&H Pet Products 2.5 gal. Thermo-Poultry 60 Watt Heated Chicken Waterer is made of opaque gray plastic, not a translucent material. You cannot see the water level change from the outside. To check the water level or refill the unit, you must lift the water tank off the base using the integrated handle, invert it, and unscrew the cap to access the fill opening.

Q: can this be hung or does it need to sit on the coop floor? Do you have a model that can be hung?

1 Answer
  • A: Hello, thank you for your question. This waterer is designed to sit on a flat surface and should not be hung. For hanging options, other waterers, such as galvanized gravity-fed or heated hanging models, are available that are specifically designed to be suspended safely.

Easy to clean, keeps water from freezing

I much appreciate knowing that in the most recent cold snap, my chickens had access to WATER! Yay! I also like the design of the top, which discourages the hens from roosting there.

The worst!

I hate this waterer. Impossible to clean the inside of the container since the opening is so small and there's no way to get around the opening because of the angle. Horrible design. You will regret buying it. Negative 10 stars

No, I do not recommend this product.

We’re really sorry to hear that you’re unhappy with the design of the waterer. We understand how frustrating it can be when a product doesn’t meet your expectations, especially when it comes to cleaning. Your feedback is valuable to us, here is a hack we found helpful both to our co-workers with the waterers and consumers alike. Cleaning your K&H Waterer To keep your K&H Waterer clean and free from buildup, follow these simple steps: Prepare the Cleaning Solution: Add hot water to the waterer bottle. Add 1-2 tablespoons of baking soda. Pour in 1-2 tablespoons of vinegar. Add a handful of small, smooth rocks to the bottle. These will help scrub away any debris during cleaning. Clean the Bottle: Secure the cap and gently shake the bottle to mix the solution and rocks. Swish the mixture around for a few minutes, allowing the rocks to scrub the inside of the bottle. Rinse Thoroughly: Empty the solution and rinse the bottle thoroughly with warm water to ensure all baking soda, vinegar, and debris are removed. Let the bottle air dry completely before refilling with fresh water.

Thanks for your review! We're glad you find it helpful for winter! You're right—when temperatures drop below 0°F, it's always a good idea to check the top to ensure your chickens have access to liquid water. We appreciate your feedback!
