Say goodbye to wasted product and burned lawns and no more fumbling for control. It's constructed to handle tough terrain around your farm, field and acreage with the oversized poly hopper, powder-coated steel frame, and 14-inch pneumatic tires. Dial in the perfect spread setting with 11 incremental gate adjustments. Backed by Chapin's limited lifetime warranty and our US-based technical support team. We recommend not using large, uneven particles like rock salt, sand or sand mixes, pelletized lime, lime or lime powders with the 89620B.

Great Spreader

Great spreader and love that I was able to get it in 1 day. Got it for my husband as a surprise. He’s had very little luck with the cheapy push spreaders he has been replacing year after year. He loves the auto-stop feature! It’s super heavy-duty and he says it really covers well with a wide and even spread.

Be sure to grease it first !

This came assembled but it took a half hour to properly tighten everything which stiffened it up significantly. There are three grease fittings on the unit, none of them had any grease in them including the gearbox. Many reviews of this unit online mention the gearbox failing almost immediately, I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't because of a dry gearbox. The stop when you stop feature works fairly well but like all spreaders small spreader settings are a challenge for it. Make yourself a 1/4 screen to prescreen your matierial through. The adjustment lever is very hard to move but it does move. Overall if you do a pre-use prep on the unit it'll be just fine.

Disappointed and poor quality

This really seemed to be a very nice spreader at first. I liked the hopper capacity and the size of the tires. However, after the first 50 pound bag if fertilizer, I could hear the gears clicking. By the second bag, the plastic gears apparently decided to lock up and stopped turning all together. This even caused the tires to lock up and start sliding. Returned it to the store and got a refund. Really disappointed. You would think with the name brand and amount I paid it would be much higher quality.
