Very disappointed, does not function anything like a disc plow. Fabricated a specific hitch on my Polaris Ranger to accept the red dawg . Will be returning!!

Modified for Oklahoma Clay

The Groundhog Max ATV/UTV Disc Plow has been an awesome tool. Used as described in the owner’s manual, it has been very effective at breaking the hard compacted Oklahoma clay. Tow behind disc attachments don’t have the weight too penetrate the soil. But the Max uses the weight of the mounted vehicle by being attached directly under the 2” receiver.
However, recent rains have kept the clay moist enough to cause the clay to stick between the discs, causing the plow to ride too high and become ineffective. Often stopping to clean between the discs to remove the “dirt wheels” is time consuming. The manual shows a solution to the problem by mounting a 5/8-11 threaded rod through the upper hole normally used for a tractor pin.
The original design has been modified slightly and has proven to be invaluable. No more maintenance stops. The recommended 19” length with 14 nuts was changed to 20” with 18 nuts. 12 gauge galvanize utility wire was used by wrapping the axle 3 times. All hardware was purchased from Tractor Supply. The zinc-plated threaded rod is sold in a 2’ length and cut to 20”.
