Start with the amounts of Equine Senior Active horse feed given for the weight and lifestyle of the horse. After observing the horse for a period of time, the amount fed may be gradually increased or decreased to obtain the desired body condition and weight.
Any feed changes should be made gradually over a period of 7 to 10 days. Changes in the rate of feeding should not exceed 1.0 lb per day for each horse.

- A: Equine Senior Active is for horses that can still chew and digest normally. Equine Senior Active will provide 100% of the vitamins, minerals and nutrients needed per day. Equine Senior Active contains a prebiotic called Active Age. Active Age is a prebiotic that will help your horse with immune response and inflammation in the horse, it also contains Outlast for supporting gastric health. Equine Senior Active is designed to be fed along with hay and/or pasture, so the fiber sources do not provide the bulk in the diet. Further, the nutrient profile of Senior Active is designed for a lower minimum feeding rate – 0.3 lbs/100 lbs Body Weight per day will meet minimum nutrient requirements along with appropriate hay/pasture. Good feed for maintaining a healthy weight

I have an 18 year old thoroughbred mare, she severely down on her when I rescued her. This is the only feed that helped her get her weight back and her top line back, and she now maintains a good weight.

Unfortunately my local store only gets 6 bags in a time. By the time I get to the store, they are out of it. You can't order this online. Pretty poor way to do business. Fortuntaley, there is another tack store in the area that has it. More rilable then here.

Perfect for seniors eating hay.

I prefer the Active as my seniors eat hay without issue and giving 15lbs a day of regular senior is just too much grain bulk. Active has more calories per pound which is easier on their gut. At some point Ill have to make a switch and divide over 3 meals but in the meantime Im glad this feed is available for this life stage.
