The Purina Miniature Horse and Pony horse feed is specifically formulated to meet the unique needs of miniature horses and ponies who tend to be more metabolically efficient than large horses but still require the nutrition necessary for growth, gestation, lactation, breeding and competition. This controlled sugar and starch formula with Amplify high-fat nugget supplies more calories from fat and fiber for cool energy and bloom, as well as Outlast for gastric health and comfort. Comes in a large 50 lb. bag. With added beat pulp, this feed delivers slow-release energy through fermentable fiber.
For additional information on this product, please see the Product Documents section for all downloadable user manuals, installation guides, brochures and warranty statements.

Feeding directions with hay or pasture. Start with the amounts given for the weight and lifestyle of the horse. After observing the horse for a period of time, the amount fed may be increased or decreased by 10% to obtain the desired body condition and weight.
*This is the recommended minimum amount of hay to be fed. If feeding more hay, reduce the feeding rate of Miniature Horse and Pony feed by 0.5 pound for every pound of additional hay feed. Provide your horse with access to salt. Maintain an effective control program for internal parasites. Have the horse's teeth examined annually and consult your veterinarian on a regular basis.Store in a dry, well-ventilated area protected from rodents and insects. Do not feed moldy or insect-infested feed to animals as it may cause illness, performance loss or death.

Q: My gelding had foundered before we received him as a rehome, I’ve been feeding him Nutrena SafeChoice Special Care in minimal amounts, how does Purina miniature horse and pony feed compare for a laminitic horse, is it better or worse?
18 days ago- A: Miniature Horse and Pony will provide a proper balance of nutrients to meet requirements of the different lifestyles of ponies and minis. Care must be taken to not over feed ponies or miniatures as they are prone to excess weight gain. Miniature Horse and Pony contains 1275 cal/lb and is 15% sugar and starch. We have also added Outlast to the feed to help support gastric health.15 days agoHelpful?
Q: Can donkeys eat this?
3 months ago- A: Hello, Purina Miniature Horse and Pony Feed is generally safe for donkeys, though it may provide more calories than a typical "easy-keeping" donkey requires for daily maintenance. Because donkeys are extremely metabolically efficient, requiring approximately 25% fewer calories than a horse of the same size, owners must be careful to avoid overfeeding.3 months agoHelpful?

Q: Can this be fed to mini donkeys and if so how much per day
4 years ago- A: Here is information from Purina: Thanks for choosing Purina. We have our pdf product page online at www.purinamills.com. There you will find the suggested feeding rate per day as it depends on body weight. You will also find the following information:*This is the recommended minimum amount of hay to be fed. If feeding more hay, reduce the feeding rate of Purina® Miniature Horse and Pony Feed by 0.5 lb for every 1.0 lbs of additional hay fed. EXAMPLE: Using the chart above, if feeding 7 lbs instead of 6 lbs of hay to a 500 lb light working pony, reduce Purina® Miniature Horse and Pony Feed offered by 0.5 lb from 3.3 to 2.8 lbs per day. **Do not feed less than 0.3 lbs per 100 lbs of body weight per day. EXAMPLE: A 200 lb miniature horse has two 100 lb increments (200 divided by 100 = 2). So for this horse, do not feed less than 0.6 lbs per day (2 x 0.3 = 0.6 lbs per day). If your horse gains too much weight at that minimum feeding rate, then you should replace Purina® Miniature Horse and Pony Feed with Purina® Enrich Plus® Ration Balancing Feed. ***If foal and mare are fed together, increase amount offered by 0.25 lbs per month of age (of the foal) per day for miniature horses, and 0.5 lbs per month of age (of the foal) per day for ponies.4 years agoHelpful?
