Purina 30% Protein Hi-Energy Tub is designed to be self-fed to beef cattle consuming fair or better quality forage. Consumption of this supplement will vary depending upon the condition of the animals, quality and quantity of forages being fed, and seasonal weather conditions. Cattle typically will consume from 0.5 to 1.5 pounds per head per day.
1) Feed at the rate of one block for every 5 to 10 head with a (min.) of 2 blocks in each pasture to assure that smaller, more timid cows get their share.
2) Place tubs in dry areas where cattle congregate, loaf, feed and water. Increase or decrease blocks available to increase or decrease consumption of the supplement.
3) As with any "cooked-molasses" product, there will be times when forage quality, cow condition, or weather stress will make it necessary to provide additional energy and protein supplementation to meet cow needs in to that provided by Purina 30% Protein Hi-Energy Tub. In these instances, contact your local Purina representative for specific feeding recommendations.
Introductory Period: During the first week of use, place the blocks approximately 50-75 feet from the loafing and/or watering areas. As cattle become acclimated to the presence of the blocks, some repositioning may be necessary. Move the blocks closer to increase consumption, further away to decrease consumption. DO NOT PROVIDE STARVED ANIMALS FREE ACCESS TO THIS SUPPLEMENT.
Important: consumption figures stated here are approximate. Clean, fresh water and a high quality, phosphorus containing mineral (Purina Wind and Rain) and salt should be available at all times.
Caution: For ruminants only. This product contains added copper and should NOT BE FED TO SHEEP or related species that have a low tolerance to supplemental copper. This feed should be used only in accordance with directions furnished on the label.
