Pet Lodge Chow Hound Dog Feeder, 50 lb. Capacity is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 25.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed We bought this feeder for 5 dogs, different ages, breeds and sexes. We rescue and foster on a regular basis and needed something for automatic or self feeding on few occasions. It is very hard for them to use. Most of the dogs have to lay down to eat. We have been through several types of food trying to solve the issue of the food not being able to fall down enough for the dogs to get to it. It is extremely loud when they stick their heads in and out to feed. We were really disappointed with the product. We researched and bought from our local store. We were unable to take the product back, even for store credit. We are currently in the process of trying to build a stand in order to work around the dogs laying down to eat as well as being able to knock it over. At this point the product is a little over a month old and I hate it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Pet Lodge Chow Hound Dog Feeder, 50 lb. Capacity This feeder is not sturdy. Although it was purchased brand new, it was already damaged and defective before we could ever use it. The bottom was bent up and would not stand properly. The lid was also bent and therefore would not open properly. There were other dents on the sides. Simply put, it is not built using a sturdy material and therefore will not last.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Almost perfect. I love this feeder. This is my 2nd and the first lasted 6 years. I only give it 4 stars for it not keeping rain out. I have an aluminum drip sheet over mine to help.

I have some feral cats that I have been feeding, but I want an auto feeder that holds 50lbs. Can cats get the food?

Anyone used this to feed pigs? Or is too light of gauge to survive that?

Asked by: JDMXLT
We would not recommend using this product to feed pigs.

How do I train the dogs to use it.

Asked by: pierres
Remove all food from the area. When the dogs get hungry they will tend to figure it out on their own. If necessary, you can prop open the container for the first few feedings.

I am building an outdoor pin with fencing. Will this hang on the fence?

Asked by: buddyman can
There are two small holes on the back of the unit so that it can be hung on screws. It is normally hung on screws secured in a wall, but as long as your fence can support the weight of feeder and food it would be possible with the proper hardware (mounting hardware not included with this item).

How or what do I need to mount this onto the side of a building off the ground a little bit?

Asked by: AmyD251
You will want to use a Tapcom screw. There are two little spots on the back of this product that you can place the screw through.

Will it handle "flow down" for very large kibbles? We switched to royal canan Lab on vet advice(treat size) and the current large feeder we have like this will not let the large kibble fall unless we actually get down and dig them down from the upper bin.

Asked by: Mary54
According to the manufacturer, it should be fine also long as there is an inch and half gap between the food and the bottom. As long as the food does not get clogged in the bottom the dog should not have a problem getting to the food.

When it says "pest" does this include ants or will I need to place bottom container in water to keep them out .

Asked by: Kathy815
The door will not keep the ants out of the item but there are holes in the back for you to hang the feeder to a wall which helps prevent ants from getting in the food.
