Disappointed in durability

I purchased these boots back in October 2018, my grandson wears them almost every day. He hadn't had them but a few days and he said Gigi, next time buy me leather boots, these scuff too easy. So when i saw them I was disappointed that the shoe part of the boot didn't keep the "leather" color where it had been scuffed. It was like the finish was knocked off, not real leather but tanned vinyl? I'm not sure, but it's not leather. I won't buy these again
