Q: Is this the gray Ford used with Red in the 47-62 tractors, or the gray used with Blue in the 60's - 90's?

1 Answer
  • A: Majic Tractor, Truck & Implement Enamel Light Ford Gray, 8-22967 (aerosol), is the more recent of the grays Ford has used over time. This gray was introduced in 1965. If you are interested in the gray used between 1948 – 1964, Ford MEDIUM Gray is available, under Antique Tractor Paint Colors, product #8-7108 (available in quarts & gallons).

Q: Is this paint is gas resistant?

1 Answer
  • A: Unfortunately, single component oil/alkyd enamels won’t protect much against gasoline spills, as gasoline is a pretty harsh solvent. If you get a gasoline spill you want to remove it as quickly as possible with a damp, non-abrasive cloth, or wash with a pH neutral car wash or spray detailer. The longer gas is on that enamel surface, the more likely it is to attack, or at least, stain and discolor, the enamel finish. The best thing to do is to wax the enamel surface with a synthetic automotive wax to provide a better protection against gas spills… while synthetic waxes may still be affected by gas spills, (as gasoline can penetrate a synthetic wax), it will be the best thing to slow the penetration enough, until the spill can be properly cleaned and neutralized.

Good quality and the right shade of gray.

I was glad to find the right color gray as there are many different shades of gray. The gray and the red by Majic look like the original colors for my 60 year old tractor.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Used in Marine application

My project was a Volvo Penta outdrive which needed restoration. I sanded down the drive, laid a couple of coats of self etching primer for good adhesion to the aluminum, laid down a couple of coats of the Majic® Tractor, Truck & Implement Light Ford Grey enamel and then top coated everything with Majic® Clear Coat High Gloss Lacquer. Over a year later and using the boat in fresh water, there is no peeling, cracking or lifting of the clear coat or paint- very impressed with the results. I'd recommend the products to anyone who needs a reliable and long lasting application.
