I bought 4 of this product in different colors because I had just gotten a blue eyed mare who needs the UV protection. Of the 4 masks I bought, only one of them has made it almost 4 months without having holes/tears at the mask's point of the eye. This is the first time in decades I haven't bought SuperMask brand and those have lasted me at least 1-2 seasons. The Kensington didn't make it 2 months on 2 horses. Isn't cutting it at 3 1/2 months on 1. And, now approaching 4 months, has a hole appearing in the same place on the blue eyed mare. If the hole develops at the mask's "point of the eye", exactly what UV protection am I getting for the eyes? With the exception of the new horse, I've had the others for years. They have not ever worn their other masks out like this. They all have solo turnout. So, they aren't doing it to each other. I love the idea of this mask. But, the quality is lacking in the construction to reinforce that point of the eye.

My horse only has one eye so I do everything I can to protect what he has. These masks are great, they fit well and have plenty of adjustment, they are tough and hard to rip but not so stiff that they rub or are uncomfortable for him. The fleece also helps prevent rubs and I like that the ear area is “open” and wide so it makes it easier for the barn staff to put it on without a struggle. I buy them in every new color because they are indispensable for us especially in the summer months. He wears it about 12 hours a day and I haven’t had any issues with overheating/sweat/rubs. The only time it was ripped was when a neighbor was playing rough and bit him and held, but even still the mask was usable and the Velcro stayed attached! Great masks, can’t recommend them enough.
