Not the best option for a UTV. Here is why.

This review will try to answer some questions I wish someone answered for me before I bought this trailer. I paid 3,700 on sale but if I could do it again, I would buy a lighter, more specialized trailer for my UTV that doesn't cheap out in some areas. It's a very good price for a tandem trailer but I haven't been able to find easy upgrades for it. The issues I have with it can't be fixed for less than the difference in price between this Karavan Trailer and pro level tandem trailers that are properly equipped. Problems: The wiring on the bottom is horribly exposed and the break away safety wire is way too long which has led to dangerous situations where the emergency brake got pulled. If you do pull the emergency brake, make sure to properly reinsert the pin! It takes considerable force and may look like it is in when it is not. I learnt this the hard way. Look under the breakaway box when reinstalling it. There is a latch you must depress. The side rails are way too high and the only way to exit the UTV is to lower them first. This doesn't seem that bad but I need to load and unload several times a day and it gets old quick. Also, because you need to lower it to get out, you can't install a spring assist on the rail to make lowering the heavy steel loading ramp easier. Even though you can remove the side rails, there is nothing to secure the gate ramp to if the side rails are removed since the gate clamps directly to the side rails. With or without the side rails, the gate ramp CANNOT be stowed by laying it flat on the deck so you must keep the side rails on. This also means you cannot fold the gate flat when riding empty to reduce wind drag. The gate ramp is heavy and cheaply secured with a single removable 1/2 inch pin on each side. There are no assistive springs or piano supports. Gorilla supports can't be installed and other such mechanisms to reduce load can't be installed aftermarket due to how the side rails lock to the ramp. All of the weight going on the ramp is supported by nothing but those 1/2 inch pins when you ride up. It has worked for me with a 2,000 lbs vehicle but it is worrying. Finally, the trailer comes without any tie downs. There are pre drilled holes with plastic covers and I highly recommend buying the Karavan tie down kit which Tractor Supply also sells that fits perfectly in those holes. The tie downs are NOT heavy duty, but I have secured my UTV to them on multiple highway runs without any kind of warping. The trick is to install them correctly. Also, the trailer does in fact have stakes installed. They are just being used for the stupid side rails. If you plan to strip it down to just the deck and install a different type of ramp, you would have good factory installed stakes. Ultimately, for the cost, if you don't need a tandem trailer this big, I would buy a better single axle trailer. If you do need one, you are better off paying a little more to get something safer and less gimmicky. Karavan is a great brand and they make great trailers, but this isn't one of them. It's bare bones structure is used to make other trailers by them that are much better but I have no idea how you would upgrade this trailer into one of those.

Incomplete jack

Satisfied with the trailer. However, was both surprised and disgusted when told by the store there was no jack base included. For the price paid, one would think you would get a complete jack.

Great quality

Tows great, when we got ours it wasn’t completely put together. Read reviews on this trailer, was a little hesitant to buy. But so glad I listened to myself. Sides come down cleanly and effortlessly. Can be done by one’s self with no help. Along with trailer bought new ball, tongue for receiver, locking pin for receiver and lock for hitch. Easy to back up, comes with large d rings for tie downs. Love the way this tandem trailer feels behind my truck. As for wiring coming out of framework, I’ve got tons of wire loom will just slide it on and zip tie it.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Mixed Feelings on This Trailer Read Before Buying

I was genuinely excited to grab this trailer on sale at my local TSC. It looked promising: solid features, fair pricing, and quality that seemed better than the usual box store options. But that’s where the good news ends. The product photos showed a deck just a few inches above the wheel wells—perfect for fold-down sides and easy forklift access. The trailer I received? Completely different. The wheels sit twice as high as pictured, which not only defeats the purpose of the fold-down sides but also causes them to hit the fenders. You have to force them past just to get them open. I contacted the warranty department with full documentation—photos, receipts, everything. It took nearly a month for the manufacturer to respond, and their solution? Send me eight replacement brackets and expect me to fix the brand-new trailer myself. Only after I asked about labor reimbursement did they mention they'd cover it after the repair. Not exactly confidence-inspiring. Frankly, I don’t see how eight brackets will solve the issue without redesigning the front and rear gate connections. And others are right—the wiring is poorly protected, and there are zero tie-downs unless you buy extras. On the plus side, the dual axles seem fine and having brakes on both is a plus. Just note: the last foot or two of the bed is a dovetail, so usable space is slightly reduced. Also, the rear gate is undersized for a trailer rated at 5,000 lbs. Bottom line: I didn’t receive what was advertised, and I’m being asked to fix their mistake. Proceed with caution.
